When you often have a house full of dogs like I do, keeping it clean is a top priority! There’s a total of 5 dogs in my home when I combine mine plus my mom’s when I pet sit!
Things get dirty and smelly quickly, but with the right products on hand, you can knock out a cleaning routine in minutes that is both safe for you and all your pets! Since I treat my pets like family, it’s my priority to make sure I’m only using what’s best and the safest for them!
In celebration of Love Your Pet Month, I’ve put together a quick and simple pet friendly cleaning checklist to follow that will help keep your home and your pet’s health in tip top shape!
PET FRIENDLY CLEANING CHECKLIST
Give Floors a Deep Clean Several Times Per Week
Since pets bring in many germs from the outdoors and everyone in the house comes in contact with the floors daily, I prefer to deep clean my floors often and use naturally derived cleaners for these surfaces. For hard surfaces, I recommend mixing 2 ounces of Art of Green with a gallon of water and mop as usual. It’s safe for sensitive skin and is a great choice for households with kids and pets.
Give Pet Toys Regular Spot Checks
Pet toys carry the most dirt and grime and come in contact with many different surfaces of the home, so it’s important to keep this clean for the sake of both your home and your pets! While often forgotten about, it’s best to clean these regularly. An easy way to do so is to spray the toys with Art of Green, then wipe clean, rinse with water and let dry. This is a better alternative to putting in the dishwasher since the high heat can compromise the structure and integrity of the toy, making it a safety hazard for your pet.
Wash Dog Bowls Daily
When washing your dishes, don’t forget about your pet’s! It’s recommended to rinse dog bowls daily and then sanitize in the dishwasher weekly!
Wipe Accidents Immediately
To prevent lingering odors, always wipe away pet messes immediately! I like to keep cleaning wipes on hand specifically for this! The wipes are super convenient and get the job done quickly!
Wash Pet Bedding Weekly
If your house smells like dogs, pet bedding may be the culprit! I like to wash my pet’s bedding weekly in the washing machine on a high heat setting with a natural detergent and softener to rid of any lingering dander and odor.
Deep Clean Crates Weekly
Crates can also be the culprit of smelly spaces! A weekly deep clean of your pet’s crate can help eliminate any lingering smells while also keeping your pet’s living quarters nice and clean. I like to spray these surfaces down with Art of Green to wipe clean. It smells amazing and stays smelling fresh for a long time!
If you’re looking for a hard-working cleaning product that is also naturally derived and safe for sensitive skin, you should definitely check out the Art of Green line! This is my go-to for many surfaces my pets will often be in contact with because I know it’s safe for them and the Lavender Eucalyptus and Citrus and White Flowers scents smell amazing!
It was voted 2020 Product of the Year by more than 40,000 consumers and is priced just above mainstream cleaning products and below green products. You can get the wipes for $2.99 and the spray for only $2.79, which really comes in handy when lots of cleaning after pets is involved!
