When I clean, my goal is to do it as quickly as possible! I never want to spend the whole day cleaning the house, so I’ve tried many different tips and tricks to cut down on cleaning time!
While I’m certainly not a cleaning pro, I think I’ve got a pretty good system down that has helped me to not have to spend as much time cleaning. By following these quick house cleaning tips and tricks, I’ve also reduced the amount of times I have to deep clean, which has been a total game changer!
QUICK HOUSE CLEANING TIPS
Use the Right Tools
Cleaning is a job, and like any job, you can’t do said job well if you don’t have the right tools! Before getting started, it’s worth it to invest in the proper tools you need to get your house cleaning done as efficiently as possible! For me, that means having the proper dusting tools, scrubbers, cleaning solutions, and a great vacuum!
You know you’re old when you get excited over a vacuum, but I’ll go ahead and own it because I’m pretty excited over my new Hoover ONEPWR™ Evolve Pet™ Cordless Vacuum! Getting a cordless vacuum was a complete game changer for how fast I can now vacuum the house! I love it because it doesn’t get tangled and I don’t have to worry about constantly unplugging it from room to room! It’s perfect for pets, works great on carpet and hard floors, and it’s lightweight at only 9lbs but holds 3x more dirt and pet hair than a stick vacuum cleaner.

Get in the Habit of Putting Things Back in Place
The rule in my house is to never go to bed with a mess! By getting in the routine of putting things back where they belong as soon as you’re done using them, you can easily eliminate hours of cleaning and tidying all at once if you just do it a little as you go!
Simplify Cleaning Products
Less is more when you’re looking to save time! The trick is to find products that have multiple uses, like something that can clean multiple surfaces, that way you aren’t toting tons of products around while you clean!
Target Specific Areas at One Time
Rather than running from room to room, you can save time by cleaning everything in one spot at a time before moving onto the next. This will eliminate you wasting time backtracking and circling all around the house! Minutes here and there add up!
Tidy Up Before Cleaning
Clutter will always slow you down! A good rule of thumb to follow is to always tidy up before you start cleaning! If you try to clean around clutter, it will only slow you down.
Be Proactive
Tackling areas before they get too bad is always idea and will save you time cleaning. For example, quickly cleaning the shower regularly after each use can help reduce mold and mildew, which in return will cut down on future scrubbing time once problems set in. Spot cleaning is easy and is your friend here!
I love my ONEPWR™ Dust Chaser™ Hand Vacuum for this reason! It’s lightweight (less than 3 lbs) making it easy to use for spot cleaning! It’s cordless which means it’s super portable and the dual HEPA filter is great for capturing dust, pet dander and allergens!

I find tidying up first and doing only one room at a time really helps. We’re in a bigger house now, so I’m still trying to come up with a good system.
