With lots of gyms still being closed, many have decided to create their own home gym. One of the first things I did when the stay at home orders began was invest in equipment and designated a room as my “gym.” I’ve always preferred working out at the gym and never thought I’d enjoy workout out at home, but it has actually been pretty nice!
I wanted to do this the right way so I could best recreate the gym experience at home! I’m happy to report that working out from home has been enjoyable and I like having my own personal space!
If you’ve always preferred working out at the gym, but the gym is no longer an option, here’s how to recreate the gym experience at home.
HOW TO RECREATE THE GYM EXPERIENCE AT HOME
Create a Designated Workout Space
One thing that can make a big difference in home workouts is actually having the designated space to do so! If you have the space, set aside a designated area to be your workout area. Workouts will be more enjoyable when you have quick and easy access to everything you need all in one place!
Invest in Workout Gear
To get the full gym effect of a similar experience at home, you’ll want to make sure you have access to all of your favorite equipment you’d typically use at the gym. While it may be an investment up front, it will pay off in the end because you might be more motivated to workout at home and stick with it!
Investing in a variety of equipment ranging from weights to even a new exercise bike has made all the difference for me! I even treated myself to new workout clothes and I love my new adidas Ultraboost shoes! If you’re wanting to get motivated to get moving, a new pair of running shoes or outfit never disappoints!
Try an Online Group Workout
If the people aspect of the gym is what you love, then the best way to recreate that experience at home is to try an online group workout class! Peloton and Les Mills classes are both fun options!

Take Your Workout Outdoors
Going to the gym is nice because it gives you an excuse to get out of the house! If you’re feeling trapped inside, it may be a good idea to take your workout outdoors! Running is a great option for both a good workout and a mental break! If you’re just getting started, check out this helpful guide!
Find an Accountability Partner
If the people aspect of going to a gym is what you need, then you’ll want to make sure you recreate this while working out at home! The best thing to do is to find an accountability partner! Zoom workouts are fun to do with friends. I also love Peloton for this very reason!

Your point about investing in workout gear to use at home to have a more comfortable experience really helped to read. I’ve never been the type of person to have enough courage to work out in front of other people, and this has gotten in the way of my weight loss plans for a long time now. If I can take your advice and find a bodybuilding equipment store to order some gear from, I’ll definitely try working out at home instead where I’m more comfortable.
