I’m so excited to share this DIY decorative kitchen utensils tutorial with y’all today!
We have a lot of neutral tones in our home, so I was looking for a way to add a subtle pop of color to our white kitchen.
I decided to do a fun quick and easy DIY project with our wooden kitchen utensils I already had on hand! I love how they turned out and the pops of yellow really brighten the space and make it more cheerful!
For these DIY decorative kitchen utensils, I decided to use Plasti Dip Craft. Plasti Dip is an air-dry, specialty rubber coating and what makes it unique is that it’s a flexible, insulating, and non-slip rubber coating. Best of all, it’s easily peelable!
If you mess up, you can peel the Plasti Dip Craft right off and start over, or you can easily peel it off to change things up with a new color. This is great in my case of using these wooden kitchen utensils as kitchen decor – I can easily change them according to season!

DIY DECORATIVE KITCHEN UTENSILS TUTORIAL
Supplies for DIY Wooden Kitchen Utensils
– Plasti Dip Craft
– Wooden kitchen utensils
– Painter’s tape
– Paint Pen (optional)
How to Make DIY Decorative Kitchen Utensils
1. Choose a well-ventilated area for your craft space.
2. Place painter’s tape towards the bottom of the wooden utensil handle to mark where you want your design to end. Cover the rest of the utensil to block from spraying.
3. Shake the Plasti Dip Craft can for 1 minute before spraying.
4. Spray the Plasti Dip Craft about 6 – 10 inches away from the object in a sweeping motion.
5. Allow the wooden utensils to fully dry for 4 hours.
6. Once dry, draw on your polka dots (or design of choice) with a paint pen. Allow to dry. See, easy peasy! What do you think!? Aren’t they so cute!?
