Thank you to Verizon Wireless for sponsoring this post.
I’ve been working from home for the past 5 years and I wouldn’t trade it for the world, but I know working from home may not be for everyone. Some people may feel more productive outside of the home, but thankfully there are ways to be more productive while working from home, it just takes an adjustment!
Working from home definitely requires more discipline, in my opinion. You may also feel lonely at times since depending on what you do, you may not be getting much face-to-face human interaction, but other than that, it can be a great thing!
My first few months working from home were definitely an adjustment period to say the least. I had to create a schedule and figure out ways to be more productive, which was a bunch of trial and error, but once I finally got into a routine, it has been smooth sailing ever since!
I’ve rounded up some of my top tips for those of you who may be in a similar situation and are trying to figure out how to be more productive while working from home. What works best for me may not be what’s best for you, but I do think we can all agree on the following tips I’m sharing below!
HOW TO BE MORE PRODUCTIVE WHILE WORKING FROM HOME:
Get Ready for Your Day
One of my biggest takeaways when it comes to working from home and feeling productive all comes down to how you start the day. I highly recommend you get ready for your day just as you would if you were to go into an office environment. It’s amazing what something as simple as getting dressed in real clothes can do!
Have a Dedicated Work Space
A dedicated work space is so important for anyone that works from home. Make sure you have a space where you are comfortable, and also a space that is big enough to allow you to work efficiently.
Invest in Faster Internet
Don’t let slow internet speeds and cellular connections impact your productivity! If you rely on these things to get your job done, I highly recommend you give yourself the best and most advanced options that are available to you! If you follow tech news, then you’ll know 5G is the latest and greatest that’s all the rage right now!
Verizon is currently working to roll out 5G, the latest in wireless technology. 5G is the fifth generation of wireless technology and it is one of the fastest, most robust technologies the world has ever seen. 5G means quicker downloads, outstanding network reliability and a spectacular impact on how we live, work and play. These benefits will make businesses more efficient and give you access to more information faster than ever before.
If you’re one to always be connected, whether that be through your phone or computer, then you’ll want to get on board with this! As of right now, 5G Ultra Wide Band is available in Houston, LA, Sacramento, and Indianapolis, and is currently expanding to even more cities!
Click here to see if your home is 5G ready! Try 5G and get your first 3 months free with no annual contracts hidden taxes or fees. You don’t even have to cancel your current service during your free 3-month trial and you also can get a free trial of YouTube TV!
Minimize Any Distractions
If you’re one to get distracted by things easily, you may want to be strategic when it comes to creating your work space. TVs, windows, pets, and even easy access to the fridge or pantry, believe it or not, can all be major distractions! Be realistic with yourself and set yourself up for success by stationing away from these things you know will cause a distraction!
Give Yourself a Break
I’ll admit that I am so bad at this! I am 100% guilty of having a working lunch most days and I rarely take the time to unplug from my computer. But let me tell you, unplugging for a few minutes makes all the difference. I’ve been trying to make it a point to step outside for 5-10 minutes throughout the day and it helps a ton when I start to feel stressed or just need to clear my head for a fresh start before a new task. We all get tied up in what we’re doing, but pressing the pause button is what we need to be the most productive!

I work from home and I agree with all of this! My husband and I both work from home, so setting a work schedule is necessary for us so we know who’s turn it is to work while the other takes care of the kids. We also both have noise-cancelling headphones that we use which is an indicator to the kids who is working at that time.
