Does your skin change with each season? That is surely the case for my skin! While my skin is drier in the winter, it still can get dry during the summer time and that’s the last thing I want when I have to wear shorts or a swimsuit! The same goes for my hair – in the summer it needs a little more attention!
With that being said, I tend to tweak my daily shower routine depending on the season. Today I’ve rounded up some of my top summer shower routine hacks I like to follow for the warmer months of the year.
These summer shower hacks help keep my skin and hair looking and feeling their best, so they may just help you too!
SUMMER SHOWER ROUTINE HACKS
Exfoliate for Glowing Skin
Say goodbye to dry skin and hello to glowing radiant skin with a consistent exfoliation routine! Exfoliating your skin is the best way to remove dry, dull, and dead skin to achieve a natural glow. Full-body exfoliating brushes or scrubs are the easiest ways to achieve this! Alternate every other day to avoid irritation for sensitive skin.
Remove Chlorine from Hair Naturally
If you plan on swimming in a pool, you want to make sure you remove all of the chlorine from your hair after. Sometimes typical shampoo and conditioner aren’t enough to remove all of the chemicals, so keeping other natural ingredients on hand during the summer months is key.
Baking soda may be a common household item, but it’s actually great for removing chlorine from hair! You can sprinkle a small amount in your hair, then lather and rinse. Follow up by adding some club soda to fully remove all of the chemicals, then continue with your normal shampoo and conditioner.
The Trick to a Closer Shave
Want the closest shave possible? The secret is exfoliating before you shave! Also, the razor you use plays a big role! I’ve always been the type of person that has used the same razor for just about my entire life, so I decided it was time to give something new a try.
This new joy razor did not disappoint! Its uncomplicated, delightful design keeps shaving refreshingly simple and helps you move on to the more important things in life. I love the fun colors it comes in (pink & teal) and the non-slip handle is very comfortable which makes shaving a win in my shower routine!
Keep Legs Hydrated
Moisturizing shave cream can help keep your legs hydrated and from looking dull. The new glee shave mousse and gel are my favorite. The mousse comes in a refreshing summer lily scent and the gel makes a rich lather with calming cucumber and aloe. This will help keep your legs from getting dry and irritated from shaving! You can purchase the joy razor, glee shave gel, and glee shave mousse only at Walmart!
Protect Your Hair from the Environment
Hydrating hair masks are a great way to keep your hair moisturized. Bonus: look for a mask or leave in treatment with added UV protection if you plan on spending a lot of time outside! Doing so will give you longer time between hair appointments! This is especially helpful for color treated or light toned hair as the sun can be very damaging!

I haven’t tried exfoliating but do guys do it too? Haha! Well, it is just recently that I kind of now knew that taking care of my skin really helps delay aging.

I actually didn’t know that normal shampoo and conditioner often aren’t enough to remove the chlorine chemicals. This turned out to be a very informational post, thank you!

I’ve been seeing this brand a lot lately! I’m definitely in the market for an updated razor because I’m so guilty of using the same one for far too long! Thanks for sharing!

I don’t think I ever exfoliate my legs before but I guess I should start. Thanks for sharing

I honestly have NEVER exfoliated before shaving… like ever. I still feel like I am such a tomboy at heart and when it comes to topics like this, I always find myself wishing I was more “feminine” and took more time to focus on things related to beauty. I definitely took away some great tips from your post. Thanks!
