This blackberry basil smash recipe is sponsored by The Glenlivet. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Since football season has been in full swing, I’ve been in full cocktail creation mode! I’ve mostly been a clear liquor type of girl as of late, and it’s been a hot minute since I’ve made something with dark liquor, so I decided to change things up this time around and bust out the scotch whiskey!
I used to think of whiskey as something only the guys like to drink on the rocks, but that has all changed once I decided to put my own spin on it. The possibilities are endless! This blackberry basil infused whiskey smash recipe I’m about to share with y’all is the perfect way to add a bit of sweetness and herb infusion to your favorite whiskey.
Go ahead and give it a try at your next happy hour!
BLACKBERRY BASIL SMASH RECIPE
Ingredients:
– 1/2 cup blackberries, muddled
– 1/2 lemon, juiced
– 4 sprigs of basil, muddled
– 1 tsp sugar
-1/4 cup ice, crushed
– 2 ounces The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve scotch whiskey
Instructions:
1. Muddle the basil leaves and blackberries at the bottom of the glass.
2. Add the lemon juice and sugar, then stir.
3. Fill each glass with crushed ice, then top off with the scotch whiskey.
4. Garnish with a fresh sprig of basil and blackberries, then serve.
Cheers!I like my cocktails to be a bit sweet and wanted to keep this recipe in true fashion of the classic whiskey smash, so I opted to add sugar to mine.If you prefer a stronger tasting cocktail, you can always omit the sugar for a more tart-like taste from the blackberries. It’s completely up to you!
For this whiskey smash recipe, I used The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve scotch whiskey, which happens to be my husband’s favorite! This whiskey naturally has a sweetness and fruity flavor to it, so I knew it would pair perfectly with the blackberry and basil. Boy was I right!
