This post on must-have travel snacks is sponsored by California Almonds. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I’m the self-proclaimed queen of snacking! When I get hungry, I get hangry! When I’m traveling or just on-the-go running errands, you can always count on me to have a snack, or few, in my bag! I try to keep my snacks somewhat healthy that way they don’t ruin my appetite for later on, but will still hold me over. I also like to pick snacks that are small and easy to pack.
With summer travel plans in full swing, I thought it would be fun to share my must-have travel snacks with y’all and see what your go-to travel snacks are as well. I’m all for trying something new, so check out mine and then share your favorite travel snacks in the comments below!
I’m a picky eater, so I tend to stick to the basics, which is why I need your help! We have a long road trip to Disney coming up in December, so I’m going to need all the snacks for when we’re on the road and in the parks too! Send all the suggestions my way please!
MUST-HAVE TRAVEL SNACKS
Almonds
Almonds are hands down my favorite and #1 on my must-have travel snacks list! They’re a great snack choice for anyone looking to help them maintain their energy, which is so necessary while traveling. Almonds are a perfect trifecta of taste, health and convenience, in my opinion. I love the variety of flavors, from sweet to salty! They have the protein, fiber, and healthy fats you need while being low in sugar, which is always a plus. They are crunchy and tasty, an excellent source of vitamin E and magnesium, are naturally gluten-free and cholesterol-free. Most importantly, almonds are such an easy snack choice that doesn’t require any prepping and can fit right into any bag. I like to keep a serving of almonds in either a disposable bag or mini food container that can fit in my purse and gym bag for easy access when I get hungry or need a boost of energy.
Fun Fact: Did you know that crunching on 1.5oz of almonds daily curbs appetite without increasing calorie intake or body weight!? Recent research shows that a healthy handful of almonds provides up to 25% fewer calories than previously thought! So basically you get a lot of nutrition from every Almond you eat!
Protein Powder
I usually drink a protein shake each day, so I don’t like to miss out on this while I’m traveling or on the go. Protein powder is super handy for travel, especially if you’re flying and can’t carry liquids onto the plane. I like to pack a portioned serving that can easily be added to a bottle of water.
Kettle Corn
I love keeping a bag of light kettle corn on hand for when I’m having a sweet tooth craving! This is generally a low-calorie snack that still gives me my sugar fix, so it’s on my list of must-have travel snacks!
Yogurt Drinks
I love yogurt drinks as part of my breakfast when I’m on the go, or as a snack with a handful of almonds! Yogurt drinks are a great way to get some probiotics! These have been one of my go-tos for a while since they’re so easy to drink while traveling or running errands.
Fiber Bars
One thing you’ll always find in my bag is a fiber bar. Pre-packaged bars usually have a long shelf life, so this is an easy, worry-free throw in item, in my opinion! Chocolate chip is my go-to flavor!
Pretzels
I love snacking on pretzels in between meals, usually after lunch when I start to get hungry before dinner. Salt usually does it for me, so pretzels are a must for holding me over! Sometimes I’ll even make my own trail mix with pretzels, almonds, and a few chocolate chips for a nice variety! Mmm, now I’m hungry!
So there you have it! That about sums up my list of must-have travel snacks! What are some of your favorites to take with you while on the go?

I always bring Kashi Strawberry bars when I travel. I know I can eat them anytime I get hungry & won’t have to worry about getting “hangry”!

I love all the things you suggested, but I think almonds are the best for me. I have a tendency to feel hypoglycemic at times and nuts seem to help prevent that.
Kallie says
Almonds, pretzles and bars are always on my list too! I almost always have at least one in my purse!

You are a much more health conscience snacker than I am!! I have to admit that my travel snacks looks like you gave an 8 year old 100 bucks and let them loose in a gas station.

I love goldfish or cereal while traveling too! Those almonds in your photo look delicious, what flavor are they? Also YAY for Disney!

Giiiiiiiirl, I feel you on the hangry situation. My partner always knows to carry snacks around with him – clever boy haha. Although, they’re often not healthy snacks. I knew that almonds we’re a good choice, but I had no idea that they were so good at curbing your appetite! I may have to switch up my snack stash a bit. These are all great options. 🙂 x

Pretzels are a very popular snack in our house! I could eat a whole bag to myself. Only problem is all that saltiness makes you thirsty, and having to stop for a bathroom break is super annoying when travelling 😅

These are good suggestions! I like Kind protein bars…the peanut butter and chocolate type.

Hmm. I love some sort of protein bar while traveling. I usually don’t do much planning ahead, so I like something easy to grab.

Might sound silly but the kids snack section in grocery stores can have some good options. Yes, probably full of sugar. But if you’re on vacation, you can give yourself a bit of an excuse. Another idea is to invest in a dehydrator and make your own snacks. Ever tried dried persimmons? Oh, so good. Oh! and Jerky!
If you have time you can also make your own no-bake protein bars. Food Wishes has a good recipe for that. He puts a kick of cayenne in it – makes for an interesting sweet and ever slightly spicy snack.
