Y’all know I usually like to keep things happy and positive around these parts, but can we get real for a second? We’re all forced to face unwanted circumstances in life. Today, I want to talk about one of those unwanted circumstances we’ve all been affected by – cancer. Whether you’ve personally been affected through battling it yourself or you know someone who has, the ugly reality is just about every single person who will read this post can say they’ve been affected by this horrible disease in some sort of way.
Cancer has placed its ugly hands on beloved family members on my husband’s and my side of the family, and it’s something I hope to never have to witness again. 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will get cancer in their lifetimes (Cancer Facts and Figures,” American Cancer Society, 2017). Take a moment to let that sink in. Outrageous, right? If I could have one wish, it would be to find a cure.
Adulting has its fun and not-so-fun moments. We’ve been blessed over the past year with good health and many exciting life moments – getting married, building our first home, etc., but that doesn’t mean there isn’t still an ugly side of adulting. Nobody wants to think about the what-ifs of the future, but it’s always best to have all your bases covered, in my opinion.I just recently learned about the existence of Aflac’s Cancer Protection Assurance* insurance policy. Given our family history of the disease, cancer insurance seemed like the perfect peace of mind and has become something my husband and I have talked about getting. I had no idea this was a thing, but as soon as I found out, I started researching as much as I could about it. I wanted to share this with y’all, as I feel this is something many would be interested in but may not be on the radar at the moment.
Cancer can be overwhelming, but talking about it and preparing for it doesn’t have to be. Aflac’s Cancer Protection Assurance helps provide financial assistance to cancer victims and their families throughout the process. It offers end-to-end care and support from detection and diagnosis, through treatment, and all the way to recovery through innovative and supportive benefits.
Policyholders have access to CancerCare, which provides emotional support from social workers, support groups and online tools. To me, this seems like the perfect policy to have in place in the event the worst ever happens.
If this is something you think your family would be interested in as well, you can check out all the details here!

Cancer is definitely one of those things that almost everyone is affected by in one way or another, but that statistic (1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women) is terrifying! It’s good to know that Aflac has policies specifically for cancer battlers and the people around them. Thanks for sharing!

I didnt even know you could get a policy like this for cancer. My husbands uncle had a hard time financially when he was diagnosed and was even let go at his job. This is def something to look into!

People normally only think of the disease, but sometimes the hardest part is after the recovery and trying to find resources to cover the funds! When I was 10, my mother was diagnosed. My 5 siblings and I had very little understanding of the situation, but I remember all the worry my parents had. I love that you’re trying to help with the other side!
