I’m at the final stretch of the 8-week training program I started in February at my local gym and the part I struggle with the most when it comes to fitness is right around the corner. I’m an accountability type of person. I need someone to hold me accountable, otherwise it’s easy for me to skip a gym day, and then another, and then another after that.
Right now everything is smooth sailing since I have a set workout schedule, my trainer, and team there to hold me accountable, but in two weeks I’ll be back on my own! I don’t want to fall off of my current routine, so I think now is the perfect time to set some goals to keep me on track moving forward. Since I’m all about accountability, I figured I’d share my current fitness goals with you! Are you in a similar situation? Maybe we can help each other!? Feel free to shoot me a message. We can motivate each other!
CURRENT FITNESS GOALS
Stick to a Schedule
My current workout schedule consists of going to the gym 6 days a week. This is something I definitely want to stick with. Most days are 2-hour days for me, and ideally I’d like to stick to that schedule too, but 2-hour days does get tiring. I’m not going to punish myself too much if I don’t do those long days everyday, but I would like to stick to 2-hour days at least 3 days/week.
Try a New Class
I am a group exercise person and I love classes! Working out on a machine like a treadmill or elliptical just doesn’t do it for me. I get bored easily and watch the clock more than anything when I’m on a machine, so I’ll be sticking to classes. One of the things I love about the training program I’m doing right now is the pre-set schedule I follow each week, which introduces me to many things I’ve never done before and honestly never would have gone and done on my own prior. Guess what y’all!? It turns out trying new things is actually fun! I want to keep this going, and continue trying new classes/sports/activities!
Be More Aware of Food & Balance
I’m good with counting my calories and staying within my limit (for the most part), but sometimes I forget to look at the big picture and remember that health is not only about the amount of calories you consume, but the ingredients that make up said calories are equally, if not more, important. I want to focus on eater healthier, not just less. It’s time to look at the big picture and think of what makes up my favorite foods and drinks and how those ingredients are sourced. It’s all about quality and balance.
I’m not one to give up my favorite things, but it’s nice knowing I can enjoy those things and not feel guilty doing so. Beer may not be on the diet plan for everyone, but following my rule of balance, it’s fine for me. I actually just picked up a 6-pack of beer at Whole Foods and guess what!? It’s brewed with pure organic grains and is free from artificial colors and flavors! One word: quality!! And at only 85 cals and 2.5g of carbs I don’t feel bad enjoying it. You may be wondering what this goodness is that I speak of and it’s the new Michelob ULTRA Pure Gold with the same pure, refreshing taste you’re used to! Balance, y’all!
Forget the Number on the Scale
I’ve always been told to ignore the number on the scale, but I never wanted to listen until now. Boy was I wrong for not listening! Repeat after me: the number on the scale means nothing! Fat loss is important. Muscle gain is important. A slimmer waistline is important. Muscle weighs more than fat, so honestly, if you’re working out and trying to hit a weight loss goal, but you’re only focusing on the number on the scale and not taking into account the pounds of fat you’re losing and the pounds of muscle you’re gaining, you may quickly feel discouraged like you haven’t made any progress. Don’t let that numbers game fool you! I tell myself this everyday.

Good for you for setting those goals! I need to set a more concrete goal for myself to get back into doing yoga and cardio more consistently.

It’s great to have fitness goals. I recently lost 30 lbs and it feels great. I’ve gain 10 lbs over the winter and I plan on losing those pounds this Spring. I definitely want to go on more walks outside when it gets nicer.

Beer is my biggest hurdle to weight loss. When I stop drinking beer, I lose 10 lbs instantly. I just can’t bring myself to do it long term lol. Everyone keeps telling me to do Michelob Ultra, but 😬😬😬 This is a good reminder though. Might be worth it.
