With spring being right around the corner, I’m so excited with tons of fun ideas flowing! I’m ready to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather, how about you!?
I want to make the most of spring while I can, because once summer sets in here in south Louisiana, the heat and humidity will literally be unbearable and indoors it is. But, until then, you can find me outside doing all the things!
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen that we recently added a new Goldendoodle puppy, Charley, to the family! She has been keeping us very busy with training and our schedules now revolve around her. Mommas, is this what it’s like to have a toddler!? I literally can’t take my eyes off of this girl or else she’ll destroy the house, haha! Anyway, that’s beside the point. She’s worth it because she’s cute!
What I’m trying to get to here is while we’re in the process of training the puppy, I don’t think we’ll be going on any long and far away trips any time soon – at least until Charley is done teething and is fully potty trained! There’s no way I could put the responsibility of watcher her on someone else right and I definitely don’t want to board her. Girl’s a lot of work I tell ya!
I have a feeling we’ll be doing lots of staycations in the near future. One of my favorite things to do is play tourist in my own state, so I’m actually looking forward to this!
People tend to think they need to get away to have a real vacation, but that’s not true at all! A weekend well spent brings a week of content, regardless of location, in my opinion! You also don’t have to spend a ton of money to have a good time.
Need some ideas? I’ve rounded up some of my favorites below! If you’re in need of a much needed break, consider a staycation! Here are 5 inexpensive spring staycation ideas you may want to consider!
5 INEXPENSIVE SPRING STAYCATION IDEAS
Plan a Camping Trip
If you have a campground nearby, this is a great place to start! State Parks are also great options too, and some may even offer camping amenities and cabins for rent. Camping is a great way to unplug and unwind when you’re in need of a break from everything. If you’re the outdoors type, this may be perfect for you as state parks often have hiking, biking, and nature trails. Don’t have a state park or campground nearby? That’s okay too! You can always turn your backyard into your own camp site!
Spend the Day on the Water
Is there a lake or river nearby? If so – the possibilities are endless, from tubing, to fishing, sailing, kayaking, waterskiing, and more! Most tubing trips are an all day excursion and they’re so fun with a group of friends. Pair that with a cool glass of Line 39 Wine Sauvignon Blanc in hand and you’ll be set to relax and float the day away!
Hit Up the Bike Trails
Adventuring by way of a bike is a great way to see your city, or even a new city close by. Does your town have a bike trail? If so, hop on and see where it takes you! Tip: look for a nearby bike trail that has restaurant along the trail. These make for fun stops for a quick drink or bite to eat!
Take a City Tour
If you live near a touristy city, chances are they offer some sort of tour. Down here in New Orleans you can do anything from a city walking tour, to a food, home, or cemetery tour! This is such a fun way to play tourist in your own city or a new-to-you city nearby! One thing I’ve learned is that no matter how familiar you are with a place and how many time’s you’ve been, you’ll always learn and discover something new. I grew up near New Orleans, yet the city will never get old to me. Don’t be afraid to give your hometown a chance!
Have a Picnic
Pack your favorite bottle of wine, snacks, and a good book for the ultimate staycation! You’ll save so much money doing this as opposed to going out to eat, plus it’s a great way to enjoy the outdoors. Local parks, lakefronts, fields, state parks, and scenic lookouts are all great places to have a picnic and unwind over a glass of wine like Line 39 Cabernet Sauvignon! Yum!
Have you tried Line 39 Wine, inspired by the 39th parallel that runs through the heart of California wine country? It is made with grapes from the best growing regions throughout the state to craft a range of expressive wines! Line 39 Cabernet Sauvignon has rich fruit flavors of currant, blackberry and ripe plum with hints of dark chocolate on the palate.
My personal favorite, Line 39 Sauvignon Blanc, offers a vibrant aroma of grapefruit and lemon with subtle grassy characters. It is the perfect pairing for seafood, which is my favorite food! I love sipping on these wines when I’m relaxing or exploring the outdoors!

Great ideas! I personally love camping and believe it can be inexpensive as long as people realize that the point of camping is to rough it – not to bring all of their belongings and shelves to place them on lol (i know a few people who do that). In the cold winter months (its still snowing where I live) I also like to pump up the heat for an afternoon and have an at-home beach day like that Alexa commercial lol

I love staycations! I become a tourist in my own town. It’s so much fun and I get to cross things off my list that I’ve always wanted to do/see.

I love your picnic idea! Staycations are a great alternative when you just don’t have the funds or the occasion to travel.

I love the idea of planning a staycation during the spring. Confession: when I used to work a 9-5er, I would always take the week of spring break off, clean my house and enjoy some peace and quiet. 🙂

We love staycations! When we celebrated our 1 year anniversary in 2016 that is what we did and we enjoyed it so much more than taking a trip! Aww congrats on the addition! We got a goldendoodle in October and we are so in love with him! It gets easier I promise!

These are all great ideas. I’ve always loved picnics, so that would be my #1. But the cycling and the day on the water sound great too 🙂

Unfortunately, it’s freezing here in Wisconsin during the spring so outdoor activities are a no go, but we love to stay in and do a house project! We just had a little staycation to start work on our kitchen! Gonna need another one to finish it 😉

yes for staycation ideas!! I’m not a big traveler and my husband and I are saving up to buy our first house! So our time spent together is always budget friendly. I love the idea of exploring your own city, we do this all the time and end up finding the best little hole-in-the-wall restaurants
