This after sun skin care tips post is sponsored by Suave, but the content and opinions are my own.
After spending a day in the sun, there’s a 50/50 chance you’ll be left with a sunburn or tan. Hopefully it’s the latter, but realistically speaking, that’s not always the case.
In order to prevent future damage to your skin, prevent dehydration, and maintain a tan there are many things you can do to give your skin the proper after sun care attention it deserves.
Today I’m sharing some tips regarding my favorite after sun skin care routine, which usually helps me soothe sunburns and preserve any bit of tanning I achieve. When I go to the beach, I usually end up with both a tan and a burn, but following these after sun skin care recommendations helps a ton.
AFTER SUN SKIN CARE TIPS:
Take a Cool Shower
If you’ve been out in the sun long enough to develop a sunburn, taking a cool shower helps relieve some of the pain. The cool temperature of the water is very soothing on burnt skin. Cold showers are also good for removing salt water off of your skin, which can cause dehydrated dry skin if the salt water is left unattended.
Use a Moisturizing Body Wash
Body wash can provide added moisture to skin and can be the perfect product for a painless shower after a sunburn when a smooth formula is present. If you’re looking for the perfect body wash that’s right for you, give this Suave body wash quiz a try! This body wash quiz will tell you your perfect scent and you’ll get a cash back offer from Ibotta. When I took the body wash quiz, it matched me with ocean breeze!
Suave body washes are very diverse and affordable, and work just as well as other premium brands. They’re great for after sun care because they come in many scents for any occasion, with my favorite being the ocean breeze, which just so happens to be suiting for being on a beach setting. You can find these at Target!
Drink Plenty of Water
If you’re at the beach, the salt water can dry out your skin quickly, so be sure to stay hydrated. Dehydrated skin becomes dry and dull, which is not only unappealing, but unhealthy for you as well. That’s why it’s important to drink plenty of water after being in the sun, and not just before or while you’re in the sun!
Use an After Sun Product
Natural remedies are the real heroes when it comes to burns! Aloe, lavender oil, and peppermint oil make a great combo for relief. If you plan on staying out in the sun for a while, you may want to consider making a spray bottle of the aloe, lavender, and peppermint combo. It’s very refreshing on skin!
