This fun ways to beat the heat in Louisiana post is sponsored by RaceTrac. All opinions are my own.
When it comes to hot summers, Louisiana certainly doesn’t mess around! Luckily there are many ways to still get out and enjoy the summer time, despite the unbearably high temperatures and humidity we’re not so happy to have!
If you currently live in Louisiana, or will be visiting, here’s a roundup of fun ways to beat the heat in Louisiana this summer! I hope this inspires you to get out and enjoy everything Louisiana has to offer, even when the only thing you feel like doing is soak up the AC!
FUN WAYS TO BEAT THE HEAT IN LOUISIANA THIS SUMMER:
INDULGE IN A COOL TREAT
When it’s summer in the south, you need to cool down as the days heat up! The #1 thing always on my to-do list in the summer time is enjoy a frozen treat! Fro-yo and snowballs are my go-to. Lately I’ve been on a huge frozen yogurt kick, which just so happens to come at a perfect time! From now through the end of July, Swirl World, RaceTrac’s in-house line of frozen yogurt, ice cream and Italian ice, is running a promotion for .79 cent cones and a sweepstakes giving you the chance to win a $300 RaceTrac gift card! That means one lucky reader residing in the states of LA, FL, GA, or TX will be the winner!!
How to enter: Post a tweet or Instagram share, use the hashtags #HowYouSwirlWorld and #Sweepstakes, and tag me on Twitter @thesouthrnthing or on Instagram @thesouthernthing. One entry per person, per day. View the full details here. If you’re a fan of frozen treats and haven’t been to a Swirl World, I encourage you to check one out at your local RaceTrac! The toppings bar with over 40 toppings to choose from is a dessert lover’s dream!
HANG OUT AT THE POOL
Don’t have a pool of your own? No worries! The Country Club Pool, one of New Orleans’ best kept secrets, has got you covered! If you’re looking for a place to enjoy a swim with friends, fresh food and cold drinks, then this place is for you! This makes for the ultimate summer Sunday Funday if you ask me!
TUBING ON THE RIVER
If you can’t get enough of the water scene, then you might want to also give Tiki Tubing down the river a try! This is a fun way to spend the day with a group of friends and beat the heat in Louisiana this summer!
RELAX UNDER THE OAKS
If a day in the park with a scenic view is more your style, then head on over to City Park and relax under one of the big beautiful mossy oak trees! There’s lots of shade here, which is a must have in the middle of a Louisiana summer. City Park is great for picnicking, people watching, reading a book, or just chilling or taking a mid-day nap. The day is yours!
LOUISIANA BREWERY TRAIL
If staying indoors and soaking up the AC is more your scene, then you can’t go wrong with adventuring through the Louisiana Brewery Trail! Louisiana has enough breweries, wineries, and distilleries to keep you occupied all summer long! How will you beat the heat in Louisiana this summer? Do you have anything fun planned?!

I’m not in Lousiana, i’m in Texas but we get pretty hot. The best way I’ve found to beat the head has been leaving the state lol but for me it’s all about staying hydrated. I always have a colg water bottle in tow.
