Woohoo it’s April! That means I’m one month closer to my birthday month and vacation, so I’m pretty excited about that! A new month means new goals, even though I’m still working on some from March (see counting calories from March goals). While I still work on getting better at that, this month I’m adding a few more to the mix. These are my April goals:
APRIL GOALS:
Save more, spend less
This past week has been a slap in the face with taxes! Chris does a great job at projecting what we’ll owe and I prepare for it all year, but it’s still never fun when it actually comes time to pay it. Self employment taxes are no joke, ugh! I also splurged a bit last month on spring clothes, shoes, and a new purse (necessity, right!?), so this month I want to cut back on unnecessary personal spending and put more than our typical monthly goal back into savings. It’s all about wants vs. needs!
Clean out my closet
I’m extremely limited on closet space where we’re living right now, so I desperately need to pack away my fall/winter clothes to make room for spring and summer. I’m pretty sure we’re done with cold fronts until the end of the year, so now is a good time to get started on the closet clean out.
Cut back on sugar
This was a goal of mine last month, and I’m keeping it on my list of April goals as well. I’ve been going from one sweet extreme to another. Previously it was king cake, and now it’s snowballs. I may or may not have had a snowball everyday this weekend. Not cool!
Take the dogs on more walks
I’ve been feeling like a bad dog mom lately for not taking the pups on enough walks. It’s been very hot in the evenings, so that’s part of the reason why. It’s only going to get hotter and more humid here, so I might as well take advantage of the (nicer) weather we are having right now and give the dogs some exercise.
Attend more local festivals
It’s officially festival season in New Orleans, and while I’ve been a frequent goer to the bigger ones like French Quarter Fest and Jazz Fest, I haven’t been to many of the smaller festivals. There is a festival for just about everything you can think of here, so I want to cross a few new (to me) ones off my list.
Happy April, fools! See what I did there!? What are you working on this month? Share your April goals in the comments below!

Save more, spend less. I think that would be a good one to add to my list.

I am right there with you on the save more and spend less. I got lucky and only had to pay a few hundred but it’s still no fun. I’m in Texas and I know that I have like one month before it gets ridiculously hot so I should try to do some outdoor activities before then. I hope you have a great month.

My goal is to get ready for my move, further my writing, and hopefully pass finals.

I am with you on the saving and not spending girl! I have the same problem! A goal for me is to relax and bit and not get too stressed or serious about my blog, especially because I’ve got a full time job as well x
