This 5 steps to a spring beauty refresh post was sponsored by Elizabeth Arden as part of an Influencer Activation and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.I’m so excited spring is finally here and I can bust out all of the colorful clothes, shoes, and jewelry! Don’t get me wrong, I love a good neutral, but there’s something about vibrant colors in the spring that’s so refreshing! Speaking of being refreshing, along with all things relating to fashion, our beauty routines could use a refresh this time of year too.
I usually update my beauty routine based on each season, so right now I’m focusing on a spring beauty refresh. I don’t do anything drastic or crazy, just a few basic updates to my beauty routine to help transition into the warmer, sunny season. If you’re looking to transition your beauty routine for spring, consider following these 5 easy steps to a spring beauty refresh.
5 STEPS TO A SPRING BEAUTY REFRESH:
1. Spring clean
Everything could use a little spring cleaning, especially your makeup! Believe it or not, makeup doesn’t last forever, and each item has a different life span. You should get in the habit of cleaning out your makeup stash often. Here’s a good rule of thumb to follow: anything powder or cream based, such as powder foundation, moisturizer, cleanser, blush, bronzer, eyeshadow, concealer, and lipstick should be thrown out after one year. Anything liquid, such as liquid foundation, liquid eyeliner, and mascara shouldn’t be kept longer than six months. This is a great way to also make room for new spring beauty products!
2. Switch to a spring scent
One of the easiest ways to take part in a spring beauty refresh is to switch to a spring inspired perfume. Choose your signature spring scent by getting inspired by the natural elements around you. Fresh flowers and fruits are great bases for a spring scent and represent the season. Britney Spears’ fantasy IN BLOOM is the perfect spring scent, in my opinion! It’s inspired by soft and fresh florals and embodies a vibrant, feminine scent. Fantasy IN BLOOM is great for day or night due to the soft floral notes. It’s also inspired by my girl Britney, so really how could you go wrong with that choice!? It’s a true expression of Britney’s dynamic personality! You can find this scent at Kohl’s and kohls.com
3. Opt for a lighter lip color
Trade in the dark reds for something bright and bubbly! Choose the perfect spring lip color by considering your skin tone and wardrobe colors for the season. If you have light skin, go for a bright pink lip for a nice pop! Medium and olive skin tones usually pair great with neutral/orange undertone pigments. Dark skin tones go great with lip colors that have brown undertones. Pay close attention to undertones when selecting the perfect lip shade. This doesn’t mean you have to limit yourself though. Spring is the time to be bold, so try something out of your comfort zone. You never know what might work for you!
4. Add a natural glow
Spring is the time to up the bronzer and highlighter for a natural sun kissed look. After a long winter, our skin is usually left looking pale and dull, so a little bit of color and shimmer can go a long way! This is where contouring makes all the difference.
5. Switch to a SPF foundation
Now that warmer, sunny days are ahead, your sun exposure will most likely increase. Spring is a great time to transition to a new foundation. Opt for something with added SPF to prevent unwanted sun damage. Many foundations, moisturizers, and creams have this option.

Love these ideas and gorgeous photos! Still rainy and gloomy where I am, but that’s not going to stop me from lightening up my lip color and adding bronzer to my routine.
