Have you tried to combat dry skin time and time again with no luck? Chances are you just haven’t found the right product and routine to combat your unwanted dry skin. If this applies to you, I know your struggle because I’ve been in your shoes too. After trying one too many products that didn’t get down to the root problem, I decided to dig further into some research on what else I could do for my year-round dry skin. I’m sharing my tips on how to combat dry skin with you in today’s post because this is by far what’s worked best for me lately. I hope it can help you too!
Apply a wet skin moisturizer after showering
According to experts, in order to combat dry skin, it’s recommended to use a wet skin moisturizer immediately after showering rather than on dry skin. After showering, your skin cells expand which provides an easy pathway for moisture to get into just showered skin. Curél® Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer is specifically formulated for use on wet skin and works great for reversing dryness. You apply it immediately after showering while your skin is still wet and there’s no need to rinse it off- just towel dry as you normally would. Use products containing ceramides
Without getting all scientific on you, ceramides are vital building blocks to maintaining skin’s moisture barrier, which occur naturally in healthy skin. When ceramides are lost, skin becomes dry and damaged. I had never heard of this before, so I made sure to add this into my routine ASAP. It’s important to replenish ceramide levels in order to combat dry skin, and you can do so with the right skin care products. To replenish ceramides, consider using Curél® Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer. It’s fragrance-free, activated by water, and formulated with ceramides to help eliminate dry skin. Use a Humidifier
The more moisture that’s in the air, the less likely you are to have dry skin. This is why, for some, dry skin problems are common during the winter months. Using a humidifier in your home can help put moisture back into the air, which could help combat dry skin.
Exfoliate your skin
Exfoliating your skin weekly will help remove dead skin cells. Old skin cells leave a dull and dry surface on the skin, so by exfoliating you can speed up the process of cell regeneration. Doing this made all the difference in my skin tone! (For those with sensitive skin, avoid exfoliating daily).
Avoid added perfumes
A lot of skin care products contain perfumes, which can cause irritation and prohibit skin from retaining natural oils. If you suffer from dry skin, avoid using products with added perfumes and use a fragrance-free product instead.
