When it comes to weddings, wedding photography quickly becomes a priority. At the end of it all, the only thing left is your wedding photos, so you’ll want them to be perfect! From pre-wedding photos like engagement and bridal photos, to the day of, there will be many photo shoots you’ll take part in. To ensure it goes smoothly, it’s best to be prepared. After hours of standing in front of a camera as a bride, there are a few things I learned along the way that I feel will be helpful to other brides. These wedding photography tips will come in handy throughout your engagement, leading up to your big day!
1. Practice your pose
It’s a good idea to practice your smile and the different wedding photography poses you want in front of the mirror before your engagement, bridal, and wedding photos! These photo shoots consist of many different poses and you won’t always be posing with your default smile, so practice is key. Practice your soft look, non-smiling look, and laughing in the air look- these are all popular wedding and engagement poses that you might not have ever done before!
2. Make a must have shot list
If there are certain poses you must have, or if you want certain shots with specific family members on your wedding day, be sure to make a must have shot list to give to your photographer so nothing gets overlooked. This will also make your photographer’s job much easier and will eliminate their need to keep asking you questions about wedding photo ideas on your big day.
3. Set a realistic timeline
Whatever you do, don’t underestimate how much time it will take to get your wedding photos done on your wedding day. Your photographer should be able to help you create a timeline for photos. Remember, it’s better to have extra time left over rather than not enough time at all! Meet with your photographer to see what’s worked well for them at past weddings.
4. Relax your face
When you’re getting photographed for hours straight, it’s important to give your face a break. Relaxing your face for a moment will help give you a more authentic smile since posing for long periods can cause you to tense up without noticing.
5. Prep your smile
Your teeth will be the center of attention in wedding photos, so make sure they’re looking as good as possible! A proper oral care and whitening routine will do the trick! They say beauty is pain, but it doesn’t always have to be. Now, you can turn to Sensodyne® True White® for a whiter smile and sensitivity relief, without the compromise! With twice daily brushing, Sensodyne® True White® provides sensitivity relief and helps whiten your teeth. Sensodyne® True White® is 10x less abrasive than many leading whitening toothpastes*, providing gentle stain removal and active stain protection.
*Based on Relative Dentin Abrasivity testing against 15 products in the top 80% of the whitening toothpaste market.
Having the best smile possible was one of my priorities leading up to my wedding. I wanted a glistening, bright smile, but unfortunately I knew the pain that sometimes comes along with whitening products. Walking in painful high heels on the big day, plus other beauty routines we put ourselves through for wedding prep, like eyebrow waxing and facial peels, is more than enough to handle. The last thing I wanted to deal with was compromising painful teeth for a bright smile! According to a survey by the makers of Sensodyne® True White®, 1 in 4 women strongly or somewhat agree that they will suffer through painful beauty regimens because the end result is worth it. We go through enough to look pretty, so no need to add one more painful chore to the routine, right!?
Thankfully Sensodyne® True White® helped me get the smile I wanted without the sacrifice of pain for beauty! I used this for 2 weeks leading up to my wedding and it helped brighten my teeth without sensitivity issues, which was awesome! I personally have sensitive teeth so this has been a game changer for me! I may sacrifice the pain with heels and brow waxes, but not with my teeth!

#3 on your list was NOT something I had thought of before my wedding! I’m so glad I had some random friends and family that caught those candid moments with their personal cameras otherwise I wouldn’t have had ANY good photos!

I think making a list of your must have pictures is a great idea. Especially because I have seen friends forget what pictures they wanted before the wedding and was sad that they didn’t get them.
