The regular football season may be over, but luckily for football fans there’s still one more game to look forward to- the biggest game of the year! With the Big Game quickly approaching, it’s time to start thinking about football parties. To host or not to host, that is always the question! I’m personally a fan of hosting and would never turn down an opportunity for food, football, and friends. Hosting a football party isn’t overwhelming and when done correctly, involves minimal clean up time, which is always a plus! If you’re considering hosting a party for the Big Game this year, or better yet, hosting your very first, consider these tips for hosting a football party that will make the planning as easy as possible for you!
TIPS FOR HOSTING A FOOTBALL PARTY:
Have an easy access seat for every guest
Unlike some get togethers where half the crowd tends to stand and mingle, when it comes to football watching most people would rather sit to watch the game. With that being said, make sure you have enough seats for each guest. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy- folding chairs will do and there’s nothing wrong with telling your friends to bring their own chairs if you’re running short. Open seating with easy in and out access is always a plus since people will most likely get up often for food and drink refills.
Keep it fun for non-football fans
The Big Game has something to offer for everyone, regardless if you’re a football fan or just there for the commercials. As a host, you can keep all your guests are entertained by having mini games for everyone to play. Pinterest is full of fun ideas, with one of my favorites being commercial bingo!
The bigger the TV, the better
You may want to think twice about planning a football party if you have a small TV! Now is the time to bring out the 50 inch, and better yet, make that two! Your football loving friends will thank you! If you’ve been putting off getting a new TV but you know you’re way over due, lucky for you there are usually great sales on TVs around the Big Game. There’s no better time to buy than now!
Serve finger foods
Being the host doesn’t mean you have to be the home chef too! Spending hours in the kitchen cooking gourmet meals isn’t necessary for football parties. Fingers foods will do just fine! Think chips, salsa, mini burgers, finger sandwiches, wings, and veggie trays.
Stock up on paper plates, flatware, and cups
Disposable is the way to go when hosting parties! Paper plates, cups, and flatware that can easily be thrown out will save you hours in the kitchen during clean up and you also won’t have to risk breaking anything nice.
DVR is always a plus
If you already have a DVR, you’re all set! If not, it may be a good idea to call your cable company and get one before the Big Game. Being able to rewind will be a blessing for your commercial loving friends!
Don’t forget dessert
One thing that’s often missing from football parties (or at least the one’s I’ve been to) is dessert! A sweet ending to the Big Game, regardless if your team wins or loses is never a bad idea. My favorite party dessert is ice cream cake. I mean, who doesn’t love that!? An OREO® ice cream cake from I Love Ice Cream Cakes is the perfect, easy, delicious dessert for the Big Game and you can easily find a variety for any occasion in the bakery freezer section of your local grocery (find yours here). I bet everyone will rush to the table for this one!

We’re still trying to decide if we’re going to host a get together this year for the Super Bowl. Our living room isn’t too big so if we do it will only be a few people.

These are such great tips. I am actually more of a basketball fan but it drives me crazy when people I got to a playoff party and can’t actually watch the game. I tend to dress super girlie so I almost always find myself backed into some corner with someone who doesn’t care about sports and assumes that I don’t either so I’m craning my head trying to see the tv without being rude lol
