It’s that time again! Somehow we’re already in a new month and it’s time to talk about August goals! I can’t say I’ve completely finished everything that I hoped to do last month, but I got close. I’m still stuck on the wedding things I had hoped to figure out in July, but all in all, it’s coming along pretty smoothly. Here’s what I want to accomplish this month:
1. Plan for our anniversary and Chris’s birthday
Our 7 year anniversary is this month, as well as Chris’s birthday! Both events are a week apart, so August is always an eventful month for us. We don’t have anything planned for either of the two yet, so now is the time to sit down and start planning!
2. Decide on reception decor
I’m putting this one back on the list this month since I’m still trying to decide what I want to do about flowers for our reception. What I do know is I’m not about to drop $5,000 on flowers to decorate the venue for 3 hours. I’ve been looking on Pinterest for ideas and even went to Hobby Lobby and Michael’s to scope out their arrangement section. I found the perfect shade of blush pink hydrangeas and some really pretty gold leafed floral pieces. My plan is to play around with that and see if I can put some type of arrangement together. They may be fake, but they honestly look no different than real and it doesn’t bother me one bit! I much rather have something I can reuse or sell later on rather than something I’ll just have to throw away, so I’m pretty excited to see what I can come up with! As for my bouquet and my bridesmaids bouquets, we’re just going to let the florist handle that part!
3. Choose our ceremony music
We’ve decided on a violin and cello duo for our ceremony music, but it’s been nearly impossible to make a final decision on what music I want to walk down the aisle to. I’m probably overthinking this part way more than I should. If you have any song suggestions, please share! I’m all ears!
4. Shop for white dresses
I need to get dresses for my shower, bachelorette, and rehearsal, so I’m hoping to get that taken care of this month before the stores replace everything with fall clothes. As you can see, I basically live and breathe wedding stuff these days!
5. Share engagement photos
Another wedding related goal, are you the least bit surprised!? This is something I was also wanting to do last month, but I’m still waiting to get our final edits back, so I’m hoping to share them with y’all this month!
6. Write in the daily journal again
Chris and I were doing the Q&A a Day journal together, which I highly recommend for couples! Ever since we moved back to Louisiana in June, we haven’t touched it though. We started this the beginning of this year and we were doing so good up until now when life just got crazy busy. So many things happened during this time frame that I want to be able to look back on, so we’re planning to reflect back and try our best to remember what happened on each day and fill in the blanks!
What are you hoping to accomplish this month? Share your August goals below!

These are great goals-you just reminded me that I used to do monthly goals for awhile and I have not done that in a long time! Planning a wedding seems very stressful, but keeping organized lists like this seem helpful.

I have never heard of those q & a journals before, I will have to check them out!

Love your actionable goals. I’ve also never heard about Q and A journals before. Probably something I will have to look into.

Love your goals! Thanks for sharing them with us. I really want to build a new enclosure for my Chinese water dragon this month since we’ve put it off for months. He’s outgrowing his current one! Have a great weekend xo, sharon

I had fake flowers for my husband and I’s reception and no one even cared. They were a quarter of the cost of the real deal and we sold all of them and the vases/extras at the flea market after. The only real flowers we had were my bouquet and the bridesmaids as well. And even then I bought those from Harris Teeter and a friend of mine made them the day of as a gift to us. They were beautiful. So if you find fake arrangments you like go for it! 🙂

GIRL, so I did the same thing…looked at Hobby Lobby and Michaels, but fake flowers are just as expensive! I was shocked. I used some fake for a few things, but ended up just doing my own. I don’t know if you have Wegman’s near you, since they originated from Rochester, NY but I got all of my flowers and bouquet through them for super cheap – and bought bulk rose petals offline and they were stunning. I spent under $250 on flowers! 🙂 It’s possible!
