One of the biggest challenges I used to face was having to resist the urge to eat throughout the day when I knew I wasn’t really hungry. A lot of times my hunger would stem from boredom or stress. I knew this because sometimes I would feel hungry an hour after eating a well balanced meal. Those feelings of hunger were wants, not needs. Once I realized that, it became much easier to manage my daily calorie count without feeling like I was starving myself. It’s all about the balance! Now I know how to feel less hungry and I feel great. The tips I’m sharing below always help.
TIPS AND TRICKS TO FEEL LESS HUNGRY:
1. Drink more water
A lot of times when you feel hungry, it’s actually because you’re thirsty! You can easily tell the difference between hunger and thirst by drinking a glass of water. If you feel satisfied after you drink, then you’ll know you weren’t really hungry.
2. Eat lean proteins
Create your meals around lean proteins over heavy carbs. Lean meat like grilled chicken is a great option that will help you feel less hungry since it stays in your body longer. Heavy carbs like bread break down into sugar, which then causes you to feel hungry quicker between meals.
3. Get proper sleep
Studies have shown that the amount of sleep you get affects your hunger level. Getting an adequate amount of sleep per night will reduces stress levels, the same ones that may cause you to stress eat. By reducing your stress levels, you’ll be reducing temptation and your body will feel more satisfied throughout the day.
4. Chew gum
Chewing gum has several benefits for helping you feel less hungry. First, it keeps your mouth moving, which gives the sensation that you are chewing food. It’s also a great way to curb sweet cravings. Mint flavored gum is also an added benefit, since you’ll most likely not crave food with a fresh mouth, just like you don’t want to eat immediately after brushing your teeth!
5. Add more fiber
Fiber fills you quickly and makes your stomach feel full so you can feel less hungry between meals. Unlike heavy carbs, fiber doesn’t quickly break down into your body or cause your blood sugar levels to rise.
One of the ways I like to incorporate more fiber into my diet is with Meta Appetite Control, the #1 doctor recommended fiber brand. This supplement is proven to help you feel less hungry between meals, which has helped keep me on track to reach my goals. I usually drink a glass between lunch and dinner to hold me over. If you’d like to give it a try, you can find it in the digestive wellness section of Walgreens!

Protein and water are definitely keys. If I find myself mindlessly snacking (happens pretty often) I force myself to drink an entire water bottle before continuing to eat, and if I am still hungry I decide it’s time for an actual meal.
