Since my move from Dallas happened rather quickly, I never really got to say goodbye or check things off my bucket list. My last week there was filled with last minute packing and scrambling rather than indulging in Tex Mex and margaritas! Shame on me! I also never got around to writing a farewell post, except for this quick announcement, so today we’re going to take a quick trip down memory lane as I go through a few thing’s I’ll miss about Dallas! These are some of my favorite things I liked about living in Texas, and if you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend you check out these things to do in Dallas!
They say everything is bigger in Texas. Well that statement couldn’t be more true and certainly isn’t lacking when it comes to the drink scene and things to do in Dallas! I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss this…
1. Texas sized sangrias
If this drink has you drooling right about now, stop everything you’re doing and head here! Those large glasses definitely don’t disappoint!
I’d also be lying if I said I wouldn’t miss…
2. Texas sized burritos!
That’s right, everything’s bigger in Texas, including the food! You can find this monster here.
3. State Fair of Texas
Nothing represents Texas more than the beloved State Fair! From all the fried food to even bacon margaritas, this fair has it all! If you don’t live in the area, it’s worth making a trip to experience this.
4. Tex Mex
Need I say more!? You’ll never go hungry in Texas because you’ll be sure to find a Tex Mex restaurant on just about every corner!
5. Katy Trail Ice House
One thing Dallas definitely isn’t lacking in is the patio scene! There are so many good ones to choose from, but if I had to pick favorites, it would be Katy Trail Ice House or Truck Yard! If you’re looking for things to do in Dallas, definitely go here!
6. Sprinkles Cupcake ATM
This was love at first sight for me, and I’m sure it’s the same for any other cupcake lover out there! It really should be a crime to not have these on every corner in every city of this country. It should also be a crime to not serve Captain Crunch ice-cream at every ice-cream shop. This heavenly stuff can be found inside Sprinkles and is my favorite of all time!
7. Texas pride
I really don’t think anyone has more pride for their state than Texans! Texas pride can be seen everywhere, through supporting sports teams to local brands! The roots run deep in the people there and I can see why! I know I’ll miss these locals foods even more as time passes. Mind if I go over some of my favorites? First up is Snow’s BBQ Sauce. Texas Monthly magazine named Snow’s BBQ the best in Texas and I agree! BBQ is huge in Texas and that’s because they do it best! Next is Yellowbird habanero sauce. It’s the most delicious and versatile condiment that will ever hit your lips! Did I mention it’s great on tacos!? I also can’t forget about The Jelly Queens black garlic rosemary BBQ sauce. This is handmade in small batches using organic locally grown Texas ingredients and tastes divine! Taste Elevated Sweet & Spicy Mustard Seeds are also worth noting! It’s great for adding to a charcuterie tray or putting on sandwiches and hotdogs! You may want to have an extra Ozarka delivery to beat this heat! Oh my gosh I’m drooling just thinking about all of this food!
8. Queso!
Give me all the queso please! I’ve never tasted a queso I didn’t like! You don’t even have to go to a restaurant to get good chips and queso. You can enjoy Paqui tortilla chips paired with my personal favorite queso from Cookwell & Company right in your own home. This queso is built around a flavorful blend of cheddar and blue cheeses combined with fire-roasted tomatoes, onions, diced jalapeños, and fresh-squeezed lime juice to create the best authentic queso you can buy! I love pairing it with better-for-you Paqui tortilla chips for a hint of jalepeo, cilantro, and other spices. Add in some Ozarka water, which comes from 3 Texas springs and has a uniquely Texan fresh taste, and you’re pretty much a true Texan with this Ozarka combo!
I just realized what I did here! Somehow this post turned into a Texas pride food and drink roundup! Sorry not sorry! I mean, is there really a better way to bring people together than with food and drink!? I think not! I guess I have a little Texas in me after all. Maybe that’s why I love Ozarka® Brand’s initiative to ask Texans to share why they love where they live!
Now that I’ve shared my favorite things I’ll miss about Dallas, it’s your turn! Texans and Dallasites, what would you add to the list!? What are your favorite things to do in Dallas?
Thank you Ozarka® for sponsoring this post! All opinions are my own.

There’s a Sprinkles Cupcake ATM in California that I love! My husband and I move around a lot too and we left our longest-ever home in Chicago (we were there for 9 months) with only 2 weeks notice and there are a lot of things I miss and things that I never checked off my list. Hearing you write about Dallas reminds me of how I felt leaving Chicago. Loved your post!

I would LOVE to go to Texas! We have one of those Cupcake ATMs in LA and Sprinkles are all over California, when I went to Oregon for a year they didn’t understand why I couldn’t just eat other cupcakes to satisfy my cravings.
