I partnered with John Frieda® Hair Care in this sponsored post.
I’ve been a brunette my entire life. Some people can go from brunette to blonde and back to brunette and rock the look either way, but not this girl! It’s either my natural medium dark brown, or color treated dark ebony brown. Lately I’ve been liking my natural look more, so it’s been a few years since I’ve dyed my hair. One thing is for certain when it comes to color treated hair: I don’t miss the up keep! For the most part, it’s easy being a brunette. Today, I’ve partnered with John Frieda® Hair Care to bring you an easy brunette hair care maintenance routine with products you can find at Walmart and my top brunette hair care tips. So for all the brunettes out there reading, today’s post is for you!
My Hair Care Tips for Brunettes:
1. Avoid chlorinated or copper-containing water
Similar to blondes, brunettes have to be cautious of certain waters that can affect their hair color. Chlorinated and copper-containing water may cause brown colored hair to pick up a green tone, so if you know you’re going to be in a pool or similar type of water, it’s best to wear your hair up in order to avoid any mishaps.
2. Protect from UV rays
UV rays can have either a good or bad effect on brunette hair, it really just depends on your preference. UV exposure will lighten brunette hair, but if you don’t mind a natural highlight added, then this can be a good thing! If you’d prefer to preserve your dark brown color, it’s recommended to use a weather resistant hairspray or wear a hat when out in the sun.
3. Boost radiance with natural oils
Brunette hair can lose its shine quicker than other hair colors and even resemble a dull tone. This can easily be fixed by using natural nut oils. They work best for restoring shine in dull brown hair.
4. Match your makeup
While this isn’t exactly something you do to your hair, it affects the look of your hair! Matching your makeup to your hair color will enhance the entire effect, so if you’re a brunette, consider going a bit darker on the eyes and opt for reds and brown neutrals for the lips instead of pinks.
5. Maintain color with treatments
Regardless if you are a natural brunette or you color treat your hair, you’ll want to maintain that color for the best shade possible. If you’re a brunette and want to go a deeper shade, you can easily deepen your brunette hair for lush rich tones with John Frieda® Brilliant Brunette® Visibly Deeper™ Colour Deepening Shampoo, John Frieda® Brilliant Brunette® Visibly Deeper™ Colour Deepening Conditioner, and John Frieda® Brilliant Brunette® Visibly Deeper™ Colour Deepening Treatment. These products are safe to use on natural and color treated hair.If you’re looking for a surge of deep, rich hues in just five minutes, then you’ll definitely want to try the Brilliant Brunette® Visibly Deeper™ Color Deepening Treatment. You can also use the shampoo & conditioner that will gradually deepen your shade with continued use. It’s nice to have something that’s so convenient and works right in the showerYou can also lighten your hair with the Brilliant Brunette® Visibly Brighter™ Collection, which is a great way to give hair a natural sun kissed glow. Summer is tough for blondes too because too much sun bleaches it, and then chlorine turns it green!
