Those of you that have read this post or this post know I’m a huge fan of taking time for yourself! One of my favorite ways to pamper myself is by a spa day, whether it be at home or at the salon. I also enjoy a simple DIY project every now and then. Combine the two and I’m basically in love. From homemade face masks to sugar scrubs, I enjoy making them all. My most recent concoction is this DIY skin brightening grapefruit sugar scrub I’m about to share with y’all and not only does it smell heavenly, it feels heavenly too!
WHAT YOU NEED:
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 tsp raw honey
2 drops grapefruit essential oil
2 drops lemon essential oil
1 whole grapefruit
WHAT YOU DO:
In a mixing bowl, combine sugar and honey and mix. In a separate mixing bowl, whip up the coconut oil with a fork until it becomes liquid form. Pour the coconut oil over the sugar and honey mixture, then add essential oils and freshly pressed juice from a half of a grapefruit. Mix all ingredients together until evenly distributed. Store grapefruit sugar scrub in a glass jar when not in use.
One important thing to note is if you use freshly squeezed juice, be sure to use your grapefruit sugar scrub the same day so the juice won’t go bad. If you want to make a batch for multiple uses later on, omit the freshly squeezed juice and just use the essential oils. You’ll still get the benefits of the grapefruit and the nice scent too!
This grapefruit sugar scrub is great to use as a skin brightener since it exfoliates your skin and helps dull, dry skin. I recommend applying it in the shower so you can easily rinse it off.
Girl talk: There’s something about that time of the month that makes me want to pamper myself even more. I usually experience a lot of discomfort and my face suffers too. I usually get an unwanted breakout and cramps that mimic labor pains (although I wouldn’t know for sure how that felt, but I can exaggerate!), but there’s nothing a bar of chocolate, a new beauty routine, and the right products can’t fix! I find sugar scrubs to really work wonders on the face during this time, give it a try!
Speaking of the right products and that time of the month, I’m sure you’re wondering what in the world do these photos of tampons have to do with any of this, but let me tell you. The last thing you want when you’re already feeling all bleh because #girlproblems is a product that’s not right for you.
That’s why I was excited to discover new just for you products at Walmart! I’m really intrigued by these U by Kotex® Click® Tampons. They’re designed small but protect big! I’m also loving these U by Kotex® Sleek® Tampons and their slim and elegant design. There’s something about the pretty product packaging that just makes me feel much better. Blame it on color psychology I guess! If you want to give them a try, you won’t want to miss out on your chance to score sweet freebies as well when you purchase 2 packs of U by Kotex® products at Walmart (offer valid until 5/31). All you have to do is text UbyKotex to 811811 and upload a photo of your receipt, then go to UbyKotexrewards.com and register to choose your customized reward!

Thank you for sharing this sugar scrub recipe. I’ve made something similar with orange zest, but I like the idea of the grapefruit. This is a great way to enjoy some ‘me’ time during that time of the month. #client
