I’m excited to announce that…
IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!! Juuuust kidding. But really, today is my birthday, but that’s not the major news I intended to drop today!
So, remember last week how I hinted about an exciting life change coming for us soon? Well now I can finally tell the world!
I’m excited to announce that Chris and I are moving back to Louisiana!! I know y’all are probably thinking geez this girl can never stay in one place, and you’re right, which is why we decided to finally plant some roots back home, where our journey officially started!
I couldn’t have asked for a more amazing past 4 years and all the experiences that came along with it. In that short time frame, we’ve moved from Louisiana to across the country in Connecticut so I could attend grad school, then moved to Massachusetts during my second year of school, then once I graduated we decided to relocate to Texas and have been here for the past 2 years. Our current place in Dallas is the longest place we have ever lived in, coming in at a total of 1 year and 7 months. Prior to that, we lived in a different place each year during college at LSU, so needless to say, we’ve moved a lot and it feels so good to finally turn in our gypsy cards and plant some roots!
Now here’s the crazy part. This Thursday, as in a few days from now Thursday, will be my last day in Dallas. I found this out less than 7 days ago. Let that sink in for a bit! To say I sort of freaked out would be an understatement! I knew this moment would come eventually, but to be honest, in my mind I was thinking we would have maybe another month or two. It all just happened so fast and all I could do was panic and pack my shit! These next few weeks will be a bit crazy, so I apologize in advance if I go MIA around here. As soon as we get to Louisiana on Thursday, we’re leaving for Gulf Shores for the weekend, then when I get back I have my best friend’s wedding that I’m in, so there’s a lot to do in such a short time!
Unfortunately there’s still a long Dallas bucket list waiting to be checked off and not enough time to do it. I’ll certainly miss this place, but when the time came for us to sit down and really figure out where we wanted to start our lives once we’re married, there were more pros than cons about moving back to Louisiana. Distance played a major key. Although we were thankful to be much closer to our family while living in Dallas in comparison to how far we previously were in New England, it still became too far and time consuming to drive 8 hours on a Friday night to make it in for an event on Saturday, to only turn around and drive another 8 hours back on Sunday. Then, for the longer trips home, we had to use vacation time. This meant every portion of vacation time went towards coming home for holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas, leaving us with no vacation time to ourselves for an actual vacation. That really got old quick, so that kind of kickstarted the whole relocation thought process. Obviously there are certain things about Louisiana, like the food, culture, and endless events going on that we also love and you just can’t get anywhere else, so the decision was kind of a no brainer!
I’m looking forward to starting yet another new chapter and seeing what the future has in store for us!
Peace out Dallas, you’ve been great to us and I wish I could take pieces of you with me. Louisiana here we come!

Aww a MASSIVE happy birthday to you! That’s so exciting – I’m relocating to a different county within the UK in a couple of weeks, but my move is WAY less than yours. Eeeeek, I hope you tick loads of things off of your Dallas bucket list soon
