I can think of many words that are synonymous to the word mom. Best friend, hard working, caring, selfless, and role model are just a few. All of those apply to my mom. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I was born on her birthday and we’ve shared our birthdays together ever since, but there’s a special bond between a mother and a daughter that just can’t be broken! My mom is my hero and I could write a novel explaining why.
I don’t think I could ever find someone more proud of my accomplishments, or who could have supported me any more throughout my life, and I think it’s safe to say many of you would say the same thing about your mom as well! I may not have had older siblings (or any siblings of that matter) to look up to, but my mom sure did make up for it! It’s funny how moms turn out to be our best friends, even though it’s impossible to see it or believe it as we’re growing up. Looking back now, I’m more appreciative than ever, and personally, I could never thank my mom enough. Obviously there’s Mother’s Day, but for a woman that’s my hero and has put up with my shenanigans for 26 years and counting, that one day of extra praise will never suffice. So today, Mom, this one’s for you! Thank you for all you do and for being my hero! Your favorite (and only) daughter loves you to the moon and back!
Now, for anyone reading this, I have a small favor to ask of you. I want you to show your hero, whoever it may be, just how much they mean to you today! You just never know who needs to hear those words right now! Share your hero by posting a photo on Instagram and use the hashtag #ShareYourHero and tag @USB when you do so!
Your hero will be automatically featured on the WOMEN: New Portraits microsite of Annie Leibovitz, the famous publisher of Women, a popular series of photographs which were accompanied by an exhibition that opened to great acclaim at the Corocan Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. in 1999. Since then, the UBS x Leibovitz collaboration has also launched in London, and has become a world renown way to explore the changes in the roles of women today while bringing to life one of the greatest art exhibitions of the 21st century. If you’re all about celebrating the women in your life, you’ll love this. For more information be sure to check this out!

Moms are amazing. I’d be lost without mine. This is such a cool hashtag and way to show off our heroes-our mamas.

My mom is definitely my hero, too! Both of my parents are, but especially my mom. I’m taking her out for wine this weekend as a treat, my little way of saying “thanks for everything you do” as a 20-something. Thanks for sharing, the microsite is really cool too! – Hannah, thecatsandcoffee.com
