Natural beach waves are so swoon worthy, am I right!? I mean, what’s not to love about going to the beach? Well, I can think of a few things. Personally, I’m not a fan of the tangles and chlorine damaged hair, but that’s pretty much it. Thankfully the pros of being at the beach outweigh the cons and following the right beach hair care tips will keep those cons at bay.
Every summer when I head to the beach I always make sure to pack a beach hair care kit in my bag. In there, you’ll find a variety of hairbrushes (from detanglers to round brushes), leave in conditioner, hair ties, and beach wave spray. Those are just a few of my must haves. In addition to the right kit, I always follow these beach hair care tips:
First, I never go to the beach without a detangling hair brush. They work wonders for detangling wet hair that’s been dried out from all the salt water. For best results, detangle hair starting from the bottom and work the brush towards the top of your head. I’ve also found that it’s easier to detangle your hair in sections. For really tough tangles, a brush with short, stiff bristles, like the Goody TangleFix Brush, is great for everyday detangling. It also helps to spray a leave in conditioner onto wet hair for easier brushing.
For a night out look after a full day on the beach, I usually do a complete hair wash and blow out. If you’ve been in the pool, I recommend washing your hair with a chlorine removing shampoo to prevent any further damage. For dry hair, add a small amount of moroccan oil for moisture, then blow dry like normal. If you want to recreate the look of those natural beach waves, you can easily do so by blow drying your hair with a round brush, and curling your hair in the direction away from your face, then once your hair is dry, add some beach spray (typically made with salt and water). The Goody Amp It Up Medium Round Brush is a great size for loose waves to give you that beachy look.To properly care for your hair while on the beach and out in the sun, be sure to pack lots of hair clips and a hat for sun protection, plus a brush to keep on hand that will help prevent your hair from losing moisture. A brush with copper bristles, like the Goody Clean Radiance Oval Cushion found at Walmart is a great option. The copper bristles massage the scalp and work through the hair to reduce buildup and restore your hair’s natural moisture balance, which is much needed when you’re out in the salty beach air!If you struggle with your hair, give these beach hair care tips a try next time and see if it helps! I definitely need that detangling brush for myself and my little one. She has the sweetest little curls, but it’s difficult to comb out after her bath.

I love Goody brushes as well. My hair is constantly a tangled mess and even more so during pool and beach days.

The tangle brush looks great! My daughter hates to have her hair brushed and this would make it easier!

The tangle teaser is perfect for my hair since it is always so kinky and curly. I use that mixed with a detangling spray and I am good to go!

Awesome tips! The one thing I hate about going to the beach is what it does to my hair. My hair gets tangled and dried out and just feels gross haha I always use a cleansing shampoo as well as a deep conditioner to strip my hair of all the salt water (or chlorine) and to put some moisture back into it.
