This year has been off to a great start so far and I want to keep it that way! I’m already on the right path (for the most part) to achieve my bigger 2016 goals, so to hold myself accountable once again, I’m sharing my February personal + blog and business goals I’d like to achieve.
PERSONAL:
1. Keep my self control
We will be in New Orleans this weekend for Mardi Gras, so it’s going to be a little challenging to have self control when it comes down to eating. Between all the drinks, food, king cake, and crawfish being in season, this is going to be a hard one.
2. Put $2,000 in savings
Our last deposit installment for our wedding reception is due next month, so my goal is to deposit at least an additional $2,000 into savings to cover it so our current balance can stay where we want it and we can reach our final goal earlier than planned. This also means it’s time to cut back spending on wants vs needs. Time to hustle! 2016 is going to be an expensive year!
3. Write in my journals daily
Chris and I started the 3-year Q&A a day journal this year, and I also picked up the 5-year Q&A a day for myself (love it, by the way). You answer one question a day and it’s a great way to reflect back throughout the years. Sometimes we forget to write on the weekends when we’re out most of the day, so I want to work on remembering to do so since it only takes a few minutes!
BLOG:
4. Fix formatting issues on posts
When I made the transfer to WordPress, the formatting in a lot of my posts got a little weird. I Initially fixed a bunch, but still have a lot of posts to go through that I’ve been putting off. At the very least, I want to clean up some of my more popular posts that see a lot of daily traffic.
5. Share more life experiences
Weekend recaps and everyday life events used to be much more present here and I miss those! Sometimes I just feel like I would be repeating myself on this blog since we visit a lot of the same places around Dallas often, so that’s why you haven’t seen as much lately. With Mardi Gras coming up, expect to see a full recap of our time in Louisiana though! The closer we get to November for the wedding, the more exciting it will be too, with more wedding planning details, and recaps of the bachelorette party, showers, etc!
6. Re-optimize old posts
I have quite a few posts I wrote back in the day that if I were to have written them now, I would’ve done it differently. I want to go back and make some SEO friendly changes to these posts and also make them more Pinterest worthy to drive more traffic to keep this blog growing!
BUSINESS:
7. Be more present on Instagram
I’ve talked about this in my goals for 2016 post, and sadly I haven’t really had much improvement when it comes to being active on Instagram for Bijoux Avenue. I really really need to step up my game.
8. Start on spring designs
The pastels will be trending before we know it and I can’t wait to bust out the colors! A lot of my designs have been neutral tones lately, which is always a favorite of mine since they go with just about anything, but I’m ready to bring more pops of color to the shop!
9. Collaborate with other shops
I love supporting other small businesses and can’t wait to work with some other amazing shop owners and spread the #shopsmall love!

I LOVE the Q&A journals! I’ve been writing in mine for 3 years now and it’s so funny to go back a year or two and see what you wrote about haha I’ve given that as a gift to like 5 of my friends.

You should share with us how you end up saving $2000 and what you cut back on. That would be super cool! I suck at saving money. Great goals!

Sounds like great goals! I do a Friday 5 every week to help recap and tell more about my life, those little things that I used to write about but don’t much anymore. Good way to make sure I am keeping me in the blog. I am going to have to check out that 3 year journal, sounds perfect!

These are absolutely amazing goals for the month. It sounds like you are being really smart with keeping your savings where you want it rather than spending it all on the wedding. I want one of those Q&A journals…they sound amazing. Have a great time at Mardi Gras and don’t beat yourself up too much if you lose a little control. You only live once 🙂

Good luck with your goals! My main goal for Feb is to create a blogging goals list which I keep putting off (grr!)

You couldn’t have said it better when you said 2016 will be an expensive year! I hear ya! I’m trying to keep up with Josh and I’s aggressive savings plan for a house and it’s so hard not to buy clothes all.the.time!

Great goals. I need to go back and optimize old posts too. I have a new theme so some of the old formatting is off and I just made new image templates so informational posts will get new and improved images!
