One of the first things I ever learned how to cook was spaghetti. I grew up on it and when spaghetti and meatballs are a weekly tradition growing up, it’s bound to be the first thing you learn how to replicate. This traditional recipe quickly became my favorite go to home cooked meal. Not only is it easy, it reminds me of home. I’ve upped my spaghetti game and now make my own homemade meatballs. Chef in training right here!
One thing that hasn’t changed though is my favorite sauce, which is the Ragu pasta sauce. It gives it a nice traditional and authentic taste while also saving time in the kitchen.
Want to give this dish a try? Here’s my homemade spaghetti and meatballs recipe.
Ingredients to Make Homemade Spaghetti and Meatballs
2 pounds ground beef

Yum! These look so good. I've made Thai meatballs a number of times but never just regular spaghetti and meatballs. I need to get on that! Thanks for sharing!

Spaghetti is one of my favorite meals. I'm pretty hit or miss with preparing it to perfection. One thing that makes or breaks a spaghetti's sauce for me are green peppers; I must have green peppers, garlic, and onion added.
Your dish looks really good.

This looks fabulous. I do have a question though. How long does it take to cook the meatball through? Thanks for the recipe!!
Dara @ The Southern Thing says
I brown them for about 10 minutes and then I let them simmer in the pot of sauce for about an hour. I like to cook it long so the flavor simmers in, so I'm not exactly sure how done they are once they hit the pot if that answers your question. You could probably get away with cooking them completely through in the oil for like 15 minutes and just let it simmer in the sauce for half the time if you're in a rush.

YUM! But I'm not the biggest fan of Ragu – do you ever use a different sauce?

If I ever use a different one, I'll sometimes use the Ragu meat flavored one, but I prefer the traditional. I find other sauces to just be too tangy for my liking, but you can certainly follow this recipe with whatever sauce you prefer!

This looks delicious. It's definitely a favorite in our house. I make it every other week per the request of my older son. I can not use Ragu though, my oldest has severe reflux (since birth), so I found an alternative way only using one tomato to make it to cut the acidity down.
