Protein smoothies are one of the easiest on the go snacks and meal replacements, and a banana split protein smoothie is by far one of my favorites. Since I’m the type of person that can go from feeling full to starving in the matter of minutes, it’s important I cut back the urge to eat all the things in sight. This is easily done when I focus on what goes into my body rather than just grabbing the first thing I see. I’ve found that when I start my day with a protein smoothie, I’m less likely to snack and crave things I shouldn’t. A smoothie for breakfast, a clean snack between breakfast and lunch to hold me over, then a light lunch is what works best for me. The key to making it work and cutting cravings is to make sure there’s enough balanced nutrients in each meal. By starting my day off with a protein packed breakfast, I’m not as starving come lunch time and a plethora of food all of a sudden doesn’t sound so appetizing. One of my all time favorites is the banana split protein smoothie. I like to think of it as a cheat meal of sorts, because it tastes a lot more guilty than it is!
WHAT YOU NEED
1 cup chopped strawberries
1 whole banana, chopped
1/2 cup pineapple chunks
1 cup light vanilla almond milk
One Chocolate EAS 100% Whey Single Serving Packet
WHAT YOU DO
Wash and rinse strawberries, remove tips, then slice in half. Chop banana into small pieces for easier blending. Slice pineapple into mini chunks. In a blender cup, add one cup of almond milk, one single serve packet of EAS Whey Protein (I chose chocolate, but vanilla tastes great too), and all chopped fruit. Pulse slowly until the fruit is finely blended.
If you’re making your smoothies for breakfast and want to save some time in the morning, you can prep your smoothies by chopping a large batch of fruit and storing it in the freezer ahead of time, that way all you have to do is add the almond milk and protein and blend. The new Protein Powder Packets are perfect for on-the-go incorporation of protein, even if you don’t have time to make a smoothie. You can carry the packets in your purse and easily add it to anything.
You can find the EAS on the go protein packets at Target near the pharmacy section! For a limited time (until Oct. 31) you can also save on EAS protein with the Cartwheel app!
Do you struggle with staying full before lunch? If you have a favorite smoothie recipe, please send it my way! I’m always looking to change things up a bit!
