I’ve had my fair share of road trips, especially since I’ve been living far from home for the last 3 years. They’re usually pretty tolerable, but the last half of the trip often seems to drag on by. The only things that keep me sane while being stuck in the car for 8 hours are food (like these Twizzlers dipper sticks), music, funny conversations, and more food.
The last road trip Chris and I took was to Louisiana right before we left for St. Croix. We packed the car with as many suitcases as it could hold (I’m not a light packer), the dogs, and some snacks. Those 8 hour trips are basically a free pass to a binge eating session and an excuse to not be judged for it. I don’t mind it! This past trip I packed our snack bag with some Twizzlers Twists, Twizzlers Pull n Peel (since they don’t melt in the heat) and lots of caffeine. I put them in small bags for portion control purposes so we wouldn’t be tempted to eat the entire bag. That seems to happen often. I also threw in some Twizzlers dipper sticks I made the night before to satisfy my white chocolate sweet tooth and they made for a great road trip partner.
WHAT YOU NEED:
Twizzlers Twists
Twizzlers Pull n Peel
White Almond Bark
Red and Blue Sprinkles
Wax Paper
WHAT YOU DO:
Heat almond bark according to package instructions. Place you Twizzlers Twists and Twizzlers Pull n Peel (I chose strawberry and cherry) into the almond bark and coat half the length of each piece of candy.
Lay on wax paper and coat chocolate dipped side with sprinkles.
Place in refrigerator for 15 minutes to harden.
I usually stock up for upcoming road trips during our weekly grocery trip. You can find everything you need for these Twizzlers dipper sticks at Walmart!
How do you incorporate Twizzlers or your favorite snack into road trips? Any advice on making the trip go by faster, send it my way please!
