As I think of the ways I’m staying healthy as I age, it seems a bit overwhelming. It’s not something I really want to think about, but the truth is, regardless if I want to believe it or not, I’m not getting any younger. It’s been proven I no longer have the metabolism of my once 16 year young self, I’ve hurt my back with really no explanation, and the thought of physically feeling any “older” than I do now scares me.
How I choose to care for my body now is more important than ever. 16 year old me could get away with eating trash food multiple times a week, being too lazy to workout, and thinking supplements are just tasty gummy vitamins. But 26 year old me? Not so much. It’s the lifestyle I choose to live right now that will create the path of my future health.
Knowing I’m in control, I’ve chosen to do something about it. First, I made a promise to myself to get active and stay active. I’m more of an off an on gym goer than a regular, but the more I go, the better I feel. So being more active it is.
Second, I’ve started paying more attention to what goes into my body and what it all actually does in my body. Will I gain anything from scarfing down a box of mac and cheese? Probably not, unless we’re talking pounds, that is. But will I gain something from a bowl of green veggies? I think we all know the answer to that one.
I’ve also started to pay more attention to vitamins and supplements. Understanding the why behind it all is an eye opener. Why do you need vitamin b? Why do you need probiotics? There is so much research out there that I think the better questions is why wouldn’t you need it? So, I’ve added a few more vitamins to my daily routine along with Align Probiotics for digestive support. Align Probiotics helps maintain your digestive system’s natural balance and right now you can save 15% using Target’s Cartwheel app (offer ends 7/19). Since I’ve been taking probiotics, I have felt so much better. You gut health is actually the root cause to many bodily problems, so supporting it is crucial.
A few other lifestyle changes I’ve made along with being active, more consciously aware, and beginning a daily supplement routine is an increase in water intake. I’ve mentioned this a few times before, but I couldn’t recommend it enough. It’s something so simple and makes you feel so much more hydrated and refreshed.
These are all fairly simple things I do to ensure I’m staying healthy as I age and I’m looking forward to expanding this lifestyle improvement over time. Here’s to a happy and healthy future!
