My house is full of fur babies, emphasis on the fur! Cleaning takes longer than usual because of our beloved dogs, but it still has to get done. With two dogs, there’s unwanted hair everywhere. I’ve literally had dreams of the day I would no longer have to lent roll the couch to remove the shedding fur and last week my dreams came true. You realize you’re getting older when you get excited for a new blender for your birthday. Then you really know when you anticipate the arrival of your new vacuum for an entire week. This is what my life has become, but my new vacuum was worth all the excitement. I no longer have to worry about a tangled mess of hair in my vacuum and that calls for a celebration. Dog owners, are you with me on this!?
I figured I might as well put it to good use and knock out my spring cleaning, because as a pet owner, my spring cleaning checklist is a little longer than I’d like. If you’re a pet owner, you won’t want to forget to clean these items than can be easily overlooked.
As we all know, pet hair loves to build up on our floors. Carpet attracts the most hair, followed by rugs. Using a vacuum with a built in untangling feature, such as the Eureka Brushroll Clean™ with SuctionSeal® works wonders. My old vacuum would easily get clogged and stop working. This one untangles the hair with a quick click of a button! Don’t forget to clean under your rugs too! Pet hair loves to hide under there.
Dog Beds
To prevent pet odor from taking over the house, I like to routinely wash the dog beds weekly. This helps keep the beds stain free and less smelly.
Upholstered Furniture
Using a furniture attachment to vacuum your couch will also help eliminate pet odors and dog hair build up. Clean your upholstered furniture often to keep it looking and smelling new when sharing it with your pets.
Behind Furniture
If you’ve ever moved to a new place and moved your tv stand for the first time, I’m sure you were shocked by the amount of dog hair that hides there too! Routinely moving furniture to clean behind will help reduce the buildup.
Toys
Don’t forget to wash your pet’s toys! These toys have been everywhere. Just think how dirty they are. Pet boys like tennis balls and stuffed animals can easily be placed into the washing machine. For more delicate toys, you can place them into a laundry bag and wash on delicate.
Food Bowls
We wash our bowls after every use, so I’m sure our pets would appreciate us doing the same for them. I’ll admit I don’t do this every day but I’m working on doing this atleast a few times a week, especially for the water bowl. Pet water bowls can grow mold just like any other surface and it wouldn’t be healthy for them to drink out of it.
Home Decor
Pet here gets everywhere, especially on our decor. If your dogs are anything like mine, they claim the couch pillows as their pet beds too. I always know when Hailey has been laying on the couch pillows because I can see the fur trail left behind! Don’t forget to clean the pillows while your vacuuming the couch.
Collars
Washing your pet’s collar in a washer bag will make it look new again. Bring that green turned gray collar back to it’s normal color in one wash.
Litter Box
Cat owners already routinely clean the litter box, but when’s the last time that thing has had a good deep cleaning!? Don’t forget to disinfect!
Cleaning Tools
The tools you use can use a cleaning of their own too. Keeping your vacuum emptied and clean will help eliminate stinky odors from coming from your vacuum the next time you go to use it. Also keeping hair from building up in the brush will make it last much longer. You can either do this yourself or pick up a Eureka Brushroll Clean™ with SuctionSeal® from Walmart and let it do it for you. I chose the latter!

Great tips! I find trying to stay on top of pet cleaning, like you mentioned regularly washing your dog beds, really helps. It is well worth the effort to keep everyone happy. #client

I have to German shepherds (or should I say German shedders) so a vacuum that can handle their hair is impossible to find. I would love this
