Yesterday I celebrated my fur child turning eight. In typical obsessed dog mom fashion, Hailey’s 8th birthday was nothing short of special! Her day started with a “Happy Birthday” singing sesssion from Chris and I as soon as the clock struck midnight, followed by a day full of her favorite things.
Hailey’s all time favorite toy is the multicolored worm (is it even a worm!?) stuffed animal, so she was greeted with a new one, plus a new addition to her collection, known as Mr. Fish! Her big fur-brother Deuce gave her a Boston Terrier birthday card to go with her toys and Chris surprised her with some fancy all natural turkey bacon dog treats! Because she’s a spoiled poodle and that wasn’t enough, I also took her on an outing to PetSmart to get a fresh bag of her favorite food, Purina® Pro Plan® Savor and made her a special food container with her name on it. PetSmart outings for Hailey are always something she loves; it’s like her version of being a kid in a candy store! They always have everything we want and need, so I don’t mind taking her.
Hailey likes to eat (she gets it from her mama) and I like feeding her with nutrients that promote healthy teeth, healthy skin, and a healthy digestive system, so it’s a win win! Purina® Pro Plan® is the first dry dog food brand to use and be founded on the idea of real meat as the #1 ingredient to help promote total body health, so I’d say the poodle child is getting the royal treatment!
With two hungry dogs in the house, we always need to have a bag of food on hand, so I put together this DIY dog food container that provides food storage that can be stacked on pantry shelves rather than taking up floor space. It’s much easier to store food and maintain freshness this way.
I repurposed a container I got from Target that was previously filled with peanut butter stuffed pretzels. The container is the perfect size, so I’m glad I held onto it! To make the DIY food container, you will only need five things and about 20 minutes of your time.
What you need: an empty container (found at Target), spray paint colors of your choice (I used Krylon Aqua Matte and White Matte), and stick on letters for personalization (found at Hobby Lobby).
What you do: 1) Remove all labels from the container. 2) Find an open area outside for spray painting. 3) Lay down plastic or newspaper to protect the surface, sidewalk, or grass from getting painted. 4) Spray paint your container with your color of choice. 5) Spray paint your stick on personalized letters in the color of your choice. 6) Allow to dry for approximately ten minutes. 7) Once dried, apply stick on letters to container. 8) Fill with pet food and enjoy the easy storage solution!
Since Hailey’s current favorite food from PetSmart is Purina® Pro Plan® Savor chicken & rice small breed adult dog food and Deuce’s favorite is lamb & rice, I always keep two extra containers full in my pantry so we never run out. They each have their own container with their name on it! It’s the perfect way to organize their food!

cute! I keep thinking I want to make a storage container for the dog food so I don't have to keep an ugly bag around.
