Sports and food, two of my favorite things! With the big game approaching, it’s one of our last excuses to indulge in all the goodness game watching has to offer. I’ll be home gating, so I figured I’d start brainstorming some new game day snack ideas. I wanted to change things up from the traditional game day wings and dips, although those are always a must. I figured there’s got to be some way to throw in some different snacks for the big game that are quick and can feed plenty, so here’s what I came up with for some different game day party snack ideas.
Along with the necessary chips and salsa are pepperoni pizza Hot Pockets with garlic buttery seasoned crust! When I saw a huge 12 pack at the grocery store, I knew it would be plenty to feed everyone. I like this idea because it offers a nice change to the game day menu since not everyone is a fan of hot wings, like the boyfriend of mine for example. But who doesn’t love pizza? Exactly. Everyone, so you can’t go wrong.
A lot of times I get carried away with all the different food items that I forget about dessert. There’s only so much chips and pizza one can eat before craving something sweet, so dessert is a must. Butterfingers are one of my favorite candy bars, so when I heard about their new peanut butter cups, I had to give them a try. They’re good on their own, but I decided to take it a step further and the Butterfinger ice cream cookie sandwich was born.
WHAT YOU NEED :: To make the Butterfinger ice cream cookie sandwich, you will need a pack of the new Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cups, sugar cookie dough (I buy the mini precut squares), and ice cream (vanilla or vanilla with Butterfinger is best)!
WHAT YOU DO :: You will use one Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cup per each cookie dough square. First, chop the Butterfinger cup up into small pieces. Once chopped, roll it into the cookie dough until it is evenly distributed.* Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 11-15 minutes until done. Let cool and flip cookies upside down to place the ice cream on. Pretend like you’re making a peanut butter sandwich and just spread the ice cream onto the bottom of one cookie and then place another cookie to make it into a sandwich! *You can also place a whole Butterfinger cup into your cookie dough for baking. I made it both ways for fun.
Since the Butterfinger cups are new, you’ll most likely find them on a large display in Walmart. My local store had them placed in the front near the magazines. You may also find them on the regular candy aisle.
What will you be serving this year for the Big Game? Do you have a game day favorite you can’t party without?
