I feel like I’d be going against all promises I made to myself when I first started this blog if I didn’t do this one thing: document.
As you may already know, it “snowed” in Dallas Sunday night, so naturally, it needs to be documented.
The snow lasted about 30 minutes and made quite the impact. It covered cars, grills, grass, and even lingered around until the next morning. Here’s proof:
Look at all of that snow! (I really can’t say that with a straight face).
But still, my reaction to seeing the snow fall from the sky was everything but what a person that’s previously lived in New England would express.
You’d think after living basically in the North Pole I would have had enough, but no. I still managed to jump up and down with excitement, rush upstairs to grab some boots, a coat, and a beanie and go outside to stare at the sky.
My reaction to the first snow fall of the season is that of a person experiencing it for the very first time. It never fails.
And that brings me to my next thought. I have a love/hate relationship with that powdery stuff. It excites me and gets me all giddy inside, but the second I have to drive to do normal daily life functions in it, I hate it. Or when it snows for 6 months straight, or when it forms black dirty piles that are two feet high that linger around for months, or when it mixes with the brown sand placed on the roads and gets all over your car, or when it freezes and makes sidewalks the new skating rink just waiting for you to step on and bust your ass, I hate it.
But then when your yard looks like this, it’s kind of hard to be mad at it.
Psst.. that was from my yard in New England. Dallas will never see that much snow.
What gives?
I’m sure I’ll miss it.

I totally agree. It's SO PRETTY! But the thought of even driving in that stuff makes me want to curl up under my blanket in bed and ride it out. Crazy!

It is gorgeous! But I quickly got tired of it when I loved farther north and I'm happy to live back in FL now! I'm too much of a wimp when it comes to cold!

How pretty! I live in Florida so snow is a foreign concept to me too lol

I couldn't believe there was snow falling on Sunday…enough to cover the grass was totally shocking! This city completely shut down for 2 or 3 days last year when Ice-meggedon hit. Dallas just doesn't do winter very well. Haha!

I think snow is so pretty, but I can definitely do without it!

Back in 2010, I flew to Dallas in the hopes of connecting to Lawton. During a freaking blizzard. My then-boyfriend (now husband) drove 4 hours from Oklahoma in the snow to get me because "it wasn't snowing in Oklahoma." People in TX cannot handle driving in snow, haha.

Driving in the snow is no fun! It took me almost 2 hours to get somewhere last year that would normally take 15 minutes. Unless you have a big SUV or truck that's high off the ground with snow tires, you're pretty much sol (says the girl that went two northern winters with a sports car inches from the ground).

I grew up with snow and couldn't be happier if I never see it again 😛
It is pretty, but the long frigid rough winters that come with it are not worth it! Glad you got to experience the prettiness for a little bit.

It was so crazy that we got a (little snow) so early! You're right-we usually don't get snow here-it just ices and people have no idea how to react. We did get four inches for Christmas a few years ago. 🙂

I definitley have a love hate relationship with snow too!! I feel the same way everything you said

I had no idea it snowed in Dallas, holey moley! It was windy, cold and raining today and someone joked it might snow in Key West too. I'd lose it.

I wish it snowed here! but that's southern california for ya lol

I grew up in upstate ny and when it snows here in Oregon I go crazy. You'd think i'd be sick of it, but because it snows so little here, I think I actually like it more! But I'm definitely glad to not be in NY right now where my hometown just got 70 inches overnight 🙂

I live in the western part of Maryland it's cold & snowing now. I love & hate it. It's pretty but the cold & ice I could do without.

We are not getting snow for another few weeks so I am so taking advantage of that! 😉

I remember a few years ago my brother got stuck at the Dallas airport on Christmas eve because it snowed a tiny bit and they shutdown all flights

It's a staple in the winter here in Vermont. I love the snow.

Haha up here, we have snow a lot 🙁 It's no fun when you have to shovel it out. Looks pretty, but a lot of work.
