Thanks General Mills and Usher for sponsoring today’s post. All opinions are my own!
My morning and breakfast routine goes a little something like this: wake up in the morning feeling like P.Diddy, storm through my closet in a desperate search for something to wear, rush downstairs to toss clothes in the dryer (bc who has time to iron?), turn on my favorite playlist, jump in the shower, get out the shower, rush downstairs and make a quick breakfast (usually egg whites and turkey bacon or a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios), scarf down said breakfast with one hand while drying my hair with the other, then finish eating just in time before I have to use both hands to put makeup on and be out the door in ten minutes.
The only thing keeping me sane in that moment is some good music and food, preferably together. I wake up craving sweets and would eat cake for breakfast if that was acceptable, but hello reality and goodbye health. I’ll accept reality, but won’t let go of my health.
About three years ago, I had a mini health scare. I went to the doctor for a routine checkup and blood work, and to my surprise, was told I was borderline of having high cholesterol. I’m sure all the trash food that consisted of my diet as a college student and those late night fast food runs at 3 a.m. during the weekly all nighter and party study fest in the library were to blame, but I wasn’t making any excuses. I researched what I needed to do to get back on a healthy track and began to change my lifestyle. That’s where Honey Nut Cheerios comes in. Remember when I said I wish I could eat cake for breakfast? Well the Cheerios may not be cake, but it’s the perfect amount of sweet to kick the crave. And to make this entire paragraph make sense, Honey Nut Cheerios are a heart healthy choice. They are made from whole grain oats, which is great for lowering cholesterol when paired with a low fat/high fiber diet. It was just what I needed.
