This weekend I took full advantage of getting into the Halloween spirit. Since my home is decorated more for a traditional fall theme that is suitable for both Halloween and Thanksgiving and lacks the specific Halloween decor, I figured I’d make up for it in the kitchen with Halloween themed party snacks. With football in full swing, these Halloween snacks were the perfect addition.
First on the menu were these Halloween Oreo spider creepy crawlers. They were almost too cute to eat. Surprisingly they are really easy to make and can be done in under ten minutes, depending how many you make.
For the spider Oreos, you will need one pack of Halloween Oreos, one pack of M&Ms, one pack of Twizzlers, and some icing to attach the eyes!
First cut Twizzlers into appropriate length for the spider legs. Place legs into Oreo filling to attach. Dab drops of icing onto of the Oreo to hold the M&M eyes in place. Once M&Ms are attached, add two additional dabs of icing to make silly eyeballs.
Next on the menu was a cajun seafood queso graveyard dip! This made the perfect Halloween snack for football watching!
For the graveyard dip, you will need Spicy Buffalo flavored Wheat Thins, one 16 oz pack of Velveeta melting cheese, one can of Rotel tomatoes, 1/2 pound of ground beef, 1/2 pound of cooked shrimp, and one bag of pretzels. Optional seasonings to add for a cajun kick: chili powder, garlic powder, and Tony Chachere’s cajun seasoning.
Start by browning the ground beef in a skillet, then add in the cooked shrimp once browned. Melt the cheese on low heat and stir in tomatoes. Keep stirring cheese mixture until it becomes creamy and smooth. Add in chili powder, garlic powder, and cajun seasoning to desired taste. Once the queso is done, pour it into a casserole dish and allow to cool for a few minutes to thicken. Once thickened, place pretzels around edge of dish to create a graveyard fence and add Spicy Buffalo Wheat Thins for tomb stones. Side note- the Spicy Buffalo Wheat Thins make for great dipping too!
I chose to do a one stop shop at Walmart to easily find all the ingredients I needed. Be sure to check out the demo going on in Walmart stores on the weekend of October 25 featuring Fanta, Oreos, and Wheat Thins. For a complete list of participating stores, click here.
Once it’s all done, enjoy your party and #SpookySnacks!
