If you’re a football fan, then you know how seriously we take our game days. It’s a time for a tailgating party, tailgating food, great friends, and football. When fall comes around, LSU fans live and breathe the game. There’s nothing more bone chilling than sitting in Death Valley on a Saturday night with nearly 100,000 of your closest friends singing “Callin’ Baton Rouge”. But before kickoff, we do what we know best: tailgate.
LSU Game Day Food: Tiger Bait Jell-O Bites Recipe

LSU fans take pride in their team and when an opposing fan comes by, they’re bound to get Tiger Baited. It’s all fun and games, regardless of the team you’re representing (unless you’re a Bama fan) (#sorryihadto) and you’ll be invited for some Louisiana cooking at the nearest tailgate shortly after. We may seem like the vicious tigers that we are, but really we just love to have a good time and feel the need to share it with anyone and everyone.
Food is a huge part of our culture and we’re always looking for something to add to the menu. Since we love to Tiger Bait fans so much, I figured why not keep it going? This year I’ll be adding LSU Tiger Bait Jell-O Bites to my tailgating and football party menu for an easy, sweet treat to go with all the jambalaya and barbecue and when an opposing fan comes by, maybe, just maaaybe I’ll share a bite or two!
When I saw the launch of the new Jell-O University kits, I was immediately obsessed. Purple and gold Jell-O jigglers that say LSU- it really doesn’t get much better than this y’all. I decided to give them a try before all the football madness begins and used the lemon and grape Jell-O, (because I’m an LSU graduate, and I’m a true fan, and I bleed purple and gold, and Geaux Tigers), but the possibilities are endless! It takes just a few minutes to mix it all together and a few hours in the fridge and you’re ready to go.
Two Jell-O university mold trays
One 3 oz. box of Jell-O grape gelatin
One 3 oz. box of Jell-O lemon gelatin
5 oz. evaporated milk*
1 cup boiling water
cooking spray
Pour Jell-O mix into two separate bowls (one for lemon, one for grape)
Combine 1/2 cup of boiling water & 2.5 oz. evaporated milk into each
Stir mix thoroughly
Spray Jell-O molds with cooking spray and pour mix into the molds
Refrigerate molds for 3 hours or until firm
Once firm, knife around the Jell-O carefully and serve
*evaporated milk is optional, but needed if you prefer a creamy color and texture*
I got my LSU Jell-O jigglers from walmart.com and the best part about it was they were under $6! The kit came with everything I needed for the game day food, besides the optional evaporated milk. #TeamJellO for the win!
