I’m writing today with a formal invite to anyone that’s willing to come pack the rest of my apartment. For payment, I’ll give you four half full bottles of vodka, one half full bottle of tequila, and some frozen fish. Sorry, that may not sound appetizing, but it’s all I got. So, any takers?
For real though, this task is over rated. Welcome to my current chaos.
Friday the moving truck gets here, Saturday we’re loading everything up, and Sunday we start our 1,700 mile cross country drive to Dallas. The good news is we’ll be making some fun pit stops along the way. I’ll be staying and visiting with family in Gatlinburg, TN, and then of course, Louisiana. Helloooo crawfish!
In other news, do you remember last Friday? Of course you do, because that was National Donut Day, or something like that, and the entire InstaWorld went crazy. Anyway, I was stopped, in my car, in the drive through line at Dunkin Donuts (for a damn coffee, might I add) when the kid driving the huge Suburban in front of me decided it would be a good idea to go ahead and back up. You probably already know how this story ends, but let me just say he rammed into the front of my car, busting the bumper. I just got my car back the week before from it being repaired from when a woman rear ended me several weeks prior. So now I’m convinced I’m driving around in a car with a sign that says “Hit Me”. How was your Friday?
I finally jumped on the #OITNB band wagon. Better late than never, right? I’m still on the first season, episode 8 I believe, and I haven’t been this hooked on a show since Gossip Girl (insert embarrassing confession).
I also thought it would be a good idea to put new sheets on my bed, you know, since it’s normal to do such things the week before it’s time to pack up your whole apartment. Again, better late than never, right?
So here’s my progress on my bedroom redo. Sheets and pillowcases (they’re so soft) are from Jane and the duvet cover is from Overstock. It’s only taken me two years now to get the ball rolling. Now I just need some gold and pink shyt and I’ll be set. I promise the final finished product will be complete in Dallas.
That’s life around here lately. Ps- any advice on how to stay sane driving 1700 miles alone with a dog? Chris and I will be in separate cars 🙁

I don't envy you- packing is the worst! But it will all be worth it once you're moved into your new place. Love getting new bed linens!

When I go on long roadtrips alone, I just pretend I'm some famous singer performing at a sold out concert (read: I just sing really loudly in the car and look like a complete idiot). hahah Oh. and just don't stop at any scary hotels!

Make road trip playlists! Seriously, this helps a lot. And have a couple of people you can call if you need to stay awake or just to talk. And exercise your doggy a lot before you get in the car. If they are tired, they are more calm and will sleep most of the time.

Make a roadtrip playlist or get books on tape. Also, work out the miles each car can go between fill ups. Most cars, regardless of fuel efficiency or gas tank size, can go around 400 miles. Schedule out where you need to stop and plan to meet there (even if you're not staying overnight). It'll be a nice way to break things up and to spend time with each other.

Car trouble is the worst and ALWAYS comes at the most inopportune time. I can't imagine when it comes times for me to move, I'm sure I'll be in the same sitch that you are. If you learn anything, post tips!

Ugh packing/moving is the worst.. but I do love setting up the new place. You must be ecstatic to be moving back south!

Packing and unpacking are the worst things ever. I so wouldn't mind being paid in vodka though. OITNB is so good! I was hooked on Gossip Girl too – not gonna lie. I just watched the pilot episode of OITNB for season 2 and I'm so stressed out. I haven't been able to sit down and watch more yet though. Your bedroom is super cute!

I just drove from Georgia to Austin. I had a couple of audiobooks on my ipod and then created a travel playlist too that had all my favorite songs. I also stopped at the rest areas in Mississippi and Louisiana to stretch my legs and that really helped a ton!!

I too got on the OITNB bandwagon late. But it's worth it… so genius!
