Today I’m going to share with you how to make a diy gift box for jewelry, or any other small item, out of a toilet paper roll. Yep, you heard that right.. a toilet paper roll! And I promise you it is super easy. It took me about 10 minutes to make and I couldn’t be more obsessed with the end result. A quick trip to Kmart and I was all set. If you’ve been looking for creative ways to package items in your Etsy shop or just simply give a gift, then look no further!
Here’s what you’ll need:
Scott toilet paper (for the empty roll)
Decorative ribbon (for decorating)
Bow wire (for decorating)
Spray paint (for decorating)
Scissors
Glue
Step 1: Use your Scott tissue until the role is empty, then save the roll. This is what you will be using to make the box. I chose to spray paint mine gold, but you can paint, spray paint, decoupage, etc. to achieve your desired look.
Step 2: First, fold one side of the roll into a U-shaped curve. Next, fold the opposite side into the same U-shaped curve to enclose the end of the roll. Place your jewelry or gift into the box and then fold the remaining side of the roll into a U-shaped curve again to close the box.
Step 3: Decorate your box. I chose to use ribbon and bow wire, but feel free to use your creativity here!
Step 4: Show off your awesome gift wrapping skills. See, it really is that easy and you’re friends won’t even believe it came from toilet paper.
If quick and easy isn’t enough for you, then how about this. Check out Kmart’s Shop You Way Rewards for great coupon offers on Scott Tissue products this week! Offer is valid 4/20/14 – 4/26/14 while supplies last. Click here for your coupon.
