I did it. I’m alive. I survived my first ski trip! But to say I am in pain would be an understatement. I was warned that I wouldn’t be able to walk the next day, but when I got home last night, I didn’t think it would be a big deal since I didn’t feel any different. Wrong. When I woke up this morning it was a serious struggle to move my legs to get out of bed. Let’s not even talk about what it felt like to walk downstairs.
noone ever said ski clothes were cute
All pain aside, I had a blast and can’t wait to go skiing again. And the good news is I only fell once… when I thought it would be a good idea to ski down to the novice slope because I was ready, but in reality I didn’t know how to stop as well as I had thought and took an intentional slide down rather than a face plant into the snow mobile I was currently headed towards. Needless to say, I never made it off the bunny slope. Maybe next time?
But hey, I was better than I had thought I would be. Chris may say otherwise. I’ll leave it up to you to decide.
I do want to give it one more try before the season is over. Hopefully next time I can make it to the novice slope without wiping out on the way there? We’ll see!
I had no idea how steep and straight down the harder slopes were. It was seriously terrifying to look at and I wonder how in the world do people do it? Seriously, props to you if you can. I’m jealous because it looks so fun!
Until next time..
Have you ever been skiing? What was your first try like?

Skiing is no joke! I've been known to wipe out on a few occasions, but the best thing to do is to get back up and try again 🙂

I've never tried skiing, but I've been snowboarding once. All I kept thinking about was how my nose was running, I was wearing so many clothes I could barely move, and my board was so heavy to keep carrying around. I kept envisioning myself in sweatpants under a blanket by the fire and saying I would never go back again haha. IF I ever do have to go back, I'll probably try the skis, but that's a big IF! haha

Ahh!! Sounds like you had so much fun!!! Take a hot bath to relax your muscles as well as some ibuprofen!

I went snowboarding once and I don't think I have ever been more sore! I am trying to work up the courage to try again! Good for you for getting out there and doing it!

Sounds like you had fun! I want to try skiing, but I know I would spend more time falling than skiing.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it!!! Hopefully your snow pants didn't give you too much trouble.

I just went skiiing for the first time this year as well, and when you're looking at those slopes from the top, it's so intimidating! I still can't control myself all that well, and my preferred method of stopping remains a snowbank to the face. Good luck with the muscle recovery—and you really should go back!

I despise skiing, mainly because I hate being cold. My friend took me skiing to teach me and the second day we went on black diamond (very advanced) hills, ugh! Tons of falling and I was too cool. Never again!

Skiing is so much fun! It took me a while to be able to do the harder slopes, you really have to know how to control your speed and direction. Once you get the hang of it though, it's so much fun 🙂
