To say Christmas flew by this year would be an understatement. I feel like it was just yesterday when my plane landed in New Orleans, but in reality, my trip is more than halfway over. I’m getting anxiety just thinking about that one. I have been loving my time back home and really really don’t want to leave. They may just have to drag me onto that plane heading north. But like all good things, it must come to an end. At least Christmas 2013 was a good one!
It all started with a trip to the French Quarter to watch the Saints game and eat some cajun food. I figured I’ve already reached my limit on all the cajun food pics on Instagram, so I’ll spare you that one. It rained literally all day long, which is never fun when walking around a city without an umbrella, but we made the best of it. This was on Fulton Street, which is one of my favorite spots in Nola during Christmas. We were lucky enough for the rain to stop just long enough to snap a picture, which reminds me of last year when I tried to get a pic at the Rockefeller Center tree in NYC while it was pouring, I must be bad luck or something!
We had a real tree at home, which hasn’t happened in years, and it was just gorgeous. I think next year I’m going to keep my fake one packed away. I enjoyed the fresh smell and beauty of the real one so much.
On Christmas morning, we got up early and exchanged gifts. My mom gave me this cute love initial bracelet from Gigglosophy. I love personal gifts like this! And then the crazy began. Am I the only one who seems to be on the road all day for every holiday? Between visiting both sides of my family and then finding time to visit Chris’s family all in one day, it gets to be a bit much. Tis the season, because it wouldn’t be Christmas without it!
The day after Christmas, Chris and I packed up the car and drove to Dallas. Since we’re pretty sure we want to relocate there when I graduate in May, we thought it would be a good time to check out the place. I loved all the shopping and restaurants the city had to offer, and especially the not so bad 8 hour drive from home. Nothing’s worse than being 1,400 miles/24 hrs away like we currently are, so I think this move will be happening real soon in our future and I can’t freakin wait! This year is going to be a good one y’all!
We also went to Top Golf while we were in Dallas with some of Chris’s family, which is something I’ve been wanting to do forever. That place is legit. If you live in the area and haven’t been yet, I highly recommend gathering up a group of friends and spending the evening there. Neither one of us had ever hit a golf ball before, so it made for an interesting night once the drinks kicked in.
When we got back from Dallas on Saturday, Chris and I lounged around the house for the rest of the evening, drank some wine and ordered pizza for a lazy night in. This was the first time we both actually stopped and were able to relax the whole time we were here. Whatever happened to vacations being relaxing? All they seem to do is wear us out these days!
The next morning, Chris had to leave to go back to the not so much of a winter wonderland we call home. He sent me the most depressing picture when he got home. Remember my first ever Mr. Snowman I last blogged about here? Well sadly, he’s passed on and this is all that’s left. And that’s when I realized I may have some issues going on when I legitimately got semi teary eyed over this. We’ll just blame that one on the wine though.
And that about sums up my Christmas! How was yours? I hope it was a good one.. now let’s ring in 2014 and make it the best one yet!

My parents are moving to Dallas this week from San Diego because they love how there are things to do all the time AND it's super cheap (especially compared to California)
