If you’re unfortunate like me, then that means it’s back to school time. Just thinking about that makes me cringe! Seriously… where did the summer go? And why doesn’t the summer seem to last nearly as long as the other seasons, especially the god awful winter? I just don’t get it! But one thing, ok maybe two things are for sure. With school coming to a start, it’s officially time for football season (can I get a hell yea hallelujah!?) and an excuse to buy new stuff.
Admit it, you still love shopping for school supplies just as much as you did when you were in your fifth grade body picking out that Lisa Frank notebook. Now wether you’re on your way to college or grad school, I can promise you your list won’t consist of a nap mat, crayons, construction paper, and kleenex. Sorry to disappoint. I still bring my nap mat to school if you were wondering…
So now that you’re a big kid now, you’re list will probably look a lot like the photo below, and may come with a few student loans to foot the bill. Welcome to reality people! But honestly if you ask me, this is all you really need for class. I survived college and a year of grad school with these five things and was just fine!
I love the more sophisticated business look over the hey I’m in college, check out my North Face backpack thing. It’s just not me. I’m all about cutting the bullshit and buying one good bag I can use for grad school and my daily life rather than transferring my necessities from one bag to another. I’m too lazy and unorganized for that.
So here you go people, it’s pretty self explanatory, but my list of must have college school supplies contains the following:
one // laptop
two // agenda
three // large tote
four // makeup bag
five // textbooks
Let’s talk about number five for a minute. Textbooks. Also known as a $600 deduction from your bank account. Not cool people, not cool. And I’m not even exaggerating. In fact, I’m pretty sure I’ve spent more than $600 in one semester alone. The hell is up with that!?! For a book!? NO book is worth the cost of two Michael Kors bags. No. Just no!
Which is why I’m here to advise you to rent your textbooks! I was a dumb freshman lost at sea when I first stepped foot into LSU and had no idea that textbook rentals even existed. Just think of how much more money could be spent at the bar I mean mall if it hadn’t all gone to books. If your’s are expensive like mine were, then that’s about 100 long islands. Books or drinks? You do the math. So if you make one smart decision while in college, spend your money wisely and don’t buy the books. You’ll probably never read them again after that semester is over anyway!
Looking for a quick and cheap way to get your textbooks? Check out CampusBookRentals for some affordable deals like 40-90% off bookstore prices. They even offer free shipping, flexible rental periods and you can even highlight in the books! And best of all, for each book rented, they will donate to Operation Smile, an international children’s medical charity to heal smiles! Now if you made the mistake like I did and purchased your books, you’re still in luck! The RentBack program allows you to rent textbooks you own to other students.
Holla fo a dolla and get to reading you smart people!
