Hello my friends! I’m back from New York City and I must admit the real world sucks. This weekend was filled with nothing but fun, and I am beyond exhausted. I feel like I need a week long vacation just to recover from this mini weekend vacay! We got into NYC Thursday night and came back home on Sunday. But I swear, it literally felt like we were there for over a week, so I’m not complaining. This little escape was much needed! The concert was awesome and everything I expected… well, almost everything. You’ll see.
Don’t let these next two pictures fool you. See, Megan and I spent our time getting ready, doing our hair, and all that good stuff to head out to the fest on Friday. This was before we left to head out to Randall’s Island.
THIS is what we REALLY looked like. We basically spent all day Friday out in the middle of a hurricane. It POURED down the entire day, with gusty wind and all. It seriously did not stop. not.for.a.second. So we put on our huge table cloths ponchos, trotted through ankle deep mushy mud and flood waters, and tried to make the best of it. It was disgusting y’all!
Thankfully, we were able to see Of Monsters and Men though. I wasn’t able to get any pictures because of the rain, but I’m just glad they played! After they were done, we stood in the pouring rain for 4 hours until it was time for Kings of Leon. The mud was so bad we couldn’t even make our way to the other side of the fest to see any other bands.
And now for the best part.. 30 minutes before KOL were scheduled to come on stage, they announced that the show would be cancelled due to high sustained winds and we were told to get home safely… excuse me! um hellll no! Did we really just wait in slop mud and rain for hours to see ONE band and hear THAT? Yes. yes we did. And we only had Friday passes, which meant we also paid lots of money just to be miserable. Insert sad face and a ride home full of pouting.
Buutt.. then a miracle happened! We received an email around 2:00 on Saturday stating that Kings of Leon was rescheduled due to the unfortunate events from Friday, & all those with Friday single day passes would be admitted into Saturday’s fest! You can bet we stopped what we were doing, threw on our boots, and headed strait back to that island! And I’m so glad we did, because it was PERFECT! (minus the sloppy mud that was still there) But I got to see Kings of Leon and that’s all that mattered! Plus we were able to see Gun’s n Roses, which was totally unexpected (and they rocked it!) so it really ended up being a great time!
Part 2 around NYC coming tomorrow so stay tuned! I hope y’all had a great weekend!

What a blast! That is awesome you guys made the best of it considering the rain. It's been a freakin' monsoon over in Nc as well.
